Hello :)
NC as this is very embarrassing for me.
So I have been in my role for the past 4 years but moved into a different department for the past 2 years now. I have a very nice team but I am having some issues with my manager and because of a numerous reasons I am on an 'informal performance plan'. I have a feeling that my manager and the other close managers have been picking on me and want me to be out of the job. Here's why.,.
I work in a role where patient care in central, think mental health, so we regularly work with young people and produce certain reports that will enable to support the patient better and impacts on care. The issue is that I used to work for an organisation and within that organisation we had trainings about the law, writing certain reports and statements which enables patients to have quality care. However, most organisations, where I work, write reports in such a way that the patient will not get quality care or much funding for support because it's basically about cost cutting.
To cut long story short, I spoke to manager that I am uncomfortable writing reports in such and such away and patients will not get access to quality care and I told her about my trainings and so forth, she basically shut it down and didn't want to hear, said that I was wrong blah blah. This then got flagged to one of the lead managers who complimented and said what I was doing was right but the team need more training and that we are not always able to produce quality reports because services are overstretched- but if you have time, then go for it.
So that's what I did. My manager didn't like it but that was that. However, when I was writing such reports in a different way, me members of my team were concerned and kept flagging this up to the manager. Since then, the manager has been micromanaging me, checking if I'm doing my work, pulling me up on why I didn't do X- but I just let that go.
Here comes the issue. I had a patient who has significant mental health needs, his family were in despair and they phoned me up for support but complained that they felt our services weren't doing much to help their relative since he would now being discharged (he would some support but it would be very very little).
I told the family of an independent outside organisation who would be able to help their son further and give more advice about getting more support. The family thanked and then began to do what I suggested. My manager found out as a few weeks later the family relative Ccd in our services and said the along the lines of "we are not happy with your services but thanks to lemon, we will be sought an independent organisation who will help us further". My manger said that I am not working in an integrated way and should have told the relative organisations that should have been sought within the local area. I told me manager, that if this was the case, then this is not outlined in your policy. How was I meant to know that this was not allowed. She then began to tell me that she had recently had a complaint from a patient that I had cancelled some visits, I told my manager that yes I did cancel because I had COVID and that I rearranged another patient with that individual.
To cut the story short. I have been told that I am not on a informal personal management plan. The issue is that before all of this, I applied for a job and got offered the role. But now I'm worried about references. I definitely don't want to go to my manager but I don't know who to ask, I can go to my supervisor who is very nice but, for obvious reasons, she knows about the informal performance plan and she is very close to the manager (they are good friends outside work). So I'm screwed to work in this current organisation for the rest of my life.
