Aibu to be annoyed at my colleague

For reference I work in a children's home for children with special needs.
Recently I overheard a colleague say they were "going to hit a fucking kid in a minute if they carry on" I presume one of the children had tried to hit or scratch them. Another colleague was present and said their name loudly as if to say don't say that.
I reported this as a safeguarding issue to senior management and the other colleague has denied hearing it which is completely not true!
Which is making feel like I acted a bit hastily by reporting them for what they said but I'd be very angry if I heard someone speak about or around my child like that.
Abiu to be annoyed at my colleagues for denying they heard anything or do I need to respect the fact that they don't want to get involved. I just feel so angry.

Maybe your colleague heard the tone of voice but not the actual words - or maybe didn't hear the words well enough to be 100% sure of what they heard and for that reason isn't prepared to stick their neck out.

And now.. it reflects bad on YOU op.

I have 2 neurotypical kids that I feel like @@@@#&@@ sometimes
I can't even imagine a whole classroom with special needs kids
If she yelled it ; she shouldn't have said it but if it was just a vent. Well. I would understand

Obviamente Not in front of the parents 🤐
