...when asked about decision to change career into childcare, doesn't say 'well I don't really know what I want to do permanently yet, but I am interested in childcare.'

FFS! And you think I am going to employ you to look after my PFB!

Arrggghh! Do not waste my time! And then say you don't like dogs either when the jd specifically says 'must be fine with dogs.'

Rant over!

No you are NOT being unreasonable!

Project Manager or Nanny...no difference really..

Mummywannabe · 25/01/2008 13:08

I had a lady once come for a job as nursery tea time help and cleaner who told me she didn't really like children! People never cease to amaze me!

EffiePerine · 25/01/2008 13:10

LOL

At least it wasn't a rehashed application to work at McDonalds

FAQ · 25/01/2008 13:11

LOL - that's made me chuckle

flowerybeanbag · 25/01/2008 13:13

I know!

I even gave her the benefit of the doubt (no idea why, cv would have gone straight in the bin 'no' pile if recruiting for work), and went back to her and suggested she rethink her cv and do me one that mentioned any childcare experience, explained her career change decision, and highlighted any transferable skills she felt she had.

[softie]

That was when she came back and said she wasn't sure what she wanted to do. For crying out loud.

I once worked for a nanny agency and had a fab nanny come for an interview - her references were amazing, we went through all the jobs that I had that I thought she would like and would be suitable for.

The first interview she went on, she'd been briefed by me on the family situation and what they were looking for (basically her - she was local, had years of experience with the children of that age and fantastic references). The family asked her what attracted her to the job and she said because it was oder children and she fancied a change from babies - I'd already told her mum was expecting number 3!!!!!!!!

I couldn;t belive it when the family told me, made me look like such an idiot.

We used to get lots of girls come in to register and you could tell that they were no good, so we wouldn't put them forward for jobs, they'd then slag us off on another website, made themselves look even better then!

YABU - much better they tell you in their CV (so you can bin it straight off) they lie/dissemble so that you waste time in interviewing them, or god forbid employing them.

flowerybeanbag · 25/01/2008 13:24

wb. Yes I suppose she could have led me up the garden path with a reasonable cv and convincing cover letter rather than doing me the favour of being so daft straight off! Helpful really when you think about it!
