Car nightmare

AIBU in expecting a courtesy car?!

Hoping someone is slightly less clueless than I am!

I lease a vehicle, a brand new Hyundai which I received 2 weeks ago. There is already an issue with it intermittently not starting. It is obviously under warranty and have someone coming out to look, but the Hyundai dealership have told me the earliest they can book it in is the 1st November. If they recover the car today and it's sat waiting to be repaired, AIBU for wanting a courtesy car for the duration? And if so, who should provide one?! The lease company, the dealership or my car insurance. I've seen my insurance will cover a car if I've been in an accident but it doesn't say anything about an issue like this.

I'd be tempted to read the dealership's boss the riot act and say you'll be contacting Hyundai UK HQ because leaving you without a car in these circumstances is not on. They really should pull out all the stops to sort a two week old car failing.

Also maybe worth contacting CAB and trading standards. If it was anything other than a car I'd have told them to get me another one or give me a full refund.

Our lease agreement covers a loan car. If the lease car goes wrong it's picked up and another car left to use while it's away.

Sadly you have to take the current climate into consideration. Ordinarily it wouldn't be an issue but the effects of covid are still being felt everywhere.

My car is about to go to a body shop for repairs following an accident. Parts are in short supply and I can't get a loan car whilst it's being repaired. Fortunately I have another car but it would be a pain otherwise.

Your contract is with the lease company, you need to get on to them and keep on to them to provide you a car.
