To ask how badly flu should affect a healthy 14yo??

Apologies, posting for traffic mainly.
Dd14 has, what I was sure was, flu. Several negative covid tests. Since Sunday night, she has had a headache, aches, pains, cough, runny nose etc. From Monday morning to yesterday morning she was vomiting everything up. Last night, the cough became worse. Back pain, exhausted but can't sleep, starving but can't eat. Barely enough energy to walk to the bathroom.
At this point I called 111. Spoke to a nurse, then a doctor who both said 'it's viral, probably flu. Give paracetamol and plenty fluids.'
Tonight she is no better. Only difference is the vomiting has stopped. She wants to get up but her legs are too weak to go far. She wants to eat but was asleep after half a slice of toast.
I've had flu and could understand it if it was me (40 with autoimmune issues) but surely this isn't normal for her age??

I would keep an eye on her temperature ( and heart rate). I had what I thought was flu a few years ago. Turned out to be pneumonia and ended up in resus. I'm sure that won't be your DD. If anything looks worrying, I would seek advice from 111.

I’m in my forties now.

As a Pp said flu can be mild or asymptomatic. I feel like that bad dose of flu as a teenager gave me enough immunity to never feel as crap again. Some colds I’ve had have probably been flu though. Flu refers to being infected with influenza as opposed to the type of symptoms you get.
hope she feels better soon

I've had flu once in my life. Swine flu. Slept for 2 weeks could barely make it to the toilet didn't care if I lived or died. Flu is evil

Hope she's better soon. If she gets better then gets bad again see gp

When I was 14 I had flu - I was bedridden for two weeks, took four until I was completely better! Hope she feels better soon

Dd has just started uni and has had exactly the same as your dd this week. All the symptoms of flu, vomiting for days, temp of 40.5, body aches, sweats, shivers, exhaustion. It's been horrible because I'm not with her 😢

Apparently the flu season this year will be early and severe.

I hope your dc feels better soon.
