Mortgage rates are really bad but I have lived through a recession and that is even worse. People with safe jobs turning up for work one day just to be made redundant out of the blue. Service sector took a hit last recession. This chancellor must be worse one we ever had. Crazy Quarteng. Liz Truss has lost the plot and is blaming Putin. It is like they are both on the pitch kicking in own goals and cheering. She keeps saying people will get 1 p off income tax, which is nothing compared to an extra £700 pm mortgage payments.

Personally, I wouldn't pay to end a low fix in order to get higher rate than you're in now! You've still got over a year. Chances are that rates will be falling again by early 2024.
