You should totally get it checked out to rule out anything serious.

However if you have had it for years, it's bright red and worst when you are constipated, it is overwhelmingly likely to be piles.

So don't panic.

You need to go to the doctor, only they can asses you on this.

Agree with @AnnaMagnani. Get checked out, I did and it was so easy, much more so than an smear despite my initial embarrassment. If it does turn out to be worst case scenario, remember that the sooner caught the better.

Yabu. I'm sorry. Better a few moments discomfort rather than the miniscule chance of letting something serious progress.

Bright red fresh blood is usually down to either piles or a tear but if you're worried then go to your GP 😊

You need to put your big girl pants on and go to the doctor. They're used to dealing with all sorts of things, they're really not fazed by anything. Go, get it seen and you'll most likely have your mind put at ease.

Cheeky. 🤭

Definitely go. It sounds like diet related but don't live with the uncertainty and worry. Get it checked out. The procedure really isn't that unpleasant and you'll feel tons better when you know what's what and you'll get advice on the best diet for you to prevent it keep happening.

Could be diet related
Could be anal sex related
Could be beetroot
Could be piles

Go to your GP

Please go to your GP. It might be fine or it might not. But if it's bad news it is better treated early.

Boujisboo, make an appointment to see your doctor - but please don;t panic!
Like the other posts here, it sounds very much likep iles. It is very common and usually the cause can be poor diet, constipation, dehydration and lack of exercise (ie sitting down all day).
Get it verified by the doctor, they probably will give you a cream for it so it doesnt feel so painful.
Don't rub just pat with tissue. 😬
The doctor can also eliminate your concerns by getting you to have a simple test for colon cancer - a poo sample. Very easy, you are given a kit. just do it, post it and wait for results.😬

I do all of that. I don’t exercise, I sit on my hun, I don’t drink enough water and I eat crap. But will be changing that.

ok that doesn’t sound too bad. Have really bad anxiety at the moment

They might do a poo test, or a colonoscopy or a sigmoidoscopy. None of them are worse than the worry that comes with doing nothing about it.

I've had this before, completely stressed myself out about a doctors exam and it ended up they didn't even examine me - just spoke about diet and said that it was likely to be piles or a tear. Prescribed some laxatives, and said if it cleared up with that to address my diet. I think they'd only examine you if it continued.

I am the same btw - generally the odd tear or pile every so often causes a bit of red blood, over a number of years. You should go and speak to a doctor though so it's at least on your record if it is recurring, and so they can rule out anything more serious.

Don't stress xx

You absolutely need to go to the doctor- it could save your life!!! My mum had bowel cancer and this is how it started. She got to stage 3 and was lucky to have it removed with no chemo. She's now 4 years clear.
You don't mess about with something like this.
Hopefully it's absolutely nothing. If it is however then the sooner it's diagnosed the better the outcome xxx

Mine had a look at my bum, said 'it's piles' and that was that. He and I knew each other socially, wasn't clear which of us was the most embarrassed.

Depending on your age, and the rest of your history, they might do more. But it might really be very little.

So interestingly enough my partner went to the GP today for similar! They literally just want to do a process of elimination for things like intolerances/celiac/chrones etc but said it's hugely likely to be something more like a nasty tummy bug. That being said, partners blood was dark red so was internal blood. Bright red suggests a pile or a tear, it's fresh and so bad happened with the bowel movement. That's a big positive you can definitely lean on. I'd go and get it checked out, you'll feel better once you do

Please please go to the GP. It's probably nothing serious but if it is, going now could be the difference between life and death. The more we get over our embarrassment about poo, the less people will die. It's that simple.

In terms of what they'll do, at worst they'll refer you for a colonoscopy. Drinking the prep liquid is rank but the clearing of the bowels and the actual procedure are fine. No awkwardness at all. I say that as someone who wasn't sedated. 100% worth it for peace of mind.

Most likely piles, I've been hospitalised twice in the last year due to bleeding and had to have several blood transfusions.
Please get it checked by GP
