Glass baby bottles

Hi all,

As the title says really - DD had the plastic Mam anti-colic ones, but I’ve just spotted they now sell glass bottles. Appealing as glass is obviously more ‘natural’ than plastic, but is it just a bit of a con? I read a few reviews saying the glass bottles aren’t anti-colic and made the babies windy. So any reviews welcome!

TIA!

Given how much microplastics have been found in babies' bodies I'd be tempted to use glass if you can afford it! Also you'd have no worries about heating up plastic etc (I know these days they're BPA free but who knows what we'll find out in the future).

I don't see how the air can get in to allow the milk out.

I'd get one first, just in case. Also, as the baby gets older, they will likely throw or drop at least one!

I used the MAM glass bottles 7 years ago for my DD. I chose them mostly because I like the shape of the MAM teats and feel babies feed well with them (I’m a neonatal nurse). I’m my experience most of the bottle that claim to be anti-colic just have extra bits meaning there is more chance of putting them together wrong. I used them for food storage for a while after she was done with bottles then put them in the glass recycling. Plastic bottles look dull and cloudy after a while and there are issues with micro-plastics. They glass bottles looked good as new and could probably be used for a second child with new tests while I most likely wouldn’t with plastic.

I used glass bottles due to micro plastics. I am not anti plastic completely but the amount you are sterilising the bottles made me think twice. They are no different to plastic with regards to colic.

I’ve got the Dr Brown anti-colic ones in glass. Though there’s two plastic inserts to make them anti-colic plus the collar for the teat. Better than a fully plastic bottle though.
