To want my kids to be cosy in their IKEA beds?

Cornishbelle · 27/09/2022 09:39

My kids both have IKEA beds so European size singles 200 cm long instead if 190. Finding bedsheets to fit has always been a pita, and with the colder weather in the way (and trying to reduce heating costs etc) I'm trying to find this fleecy/sheepskin style undersheets in that size and am really struggling.

Anyone out there who has a good suggestion to somewhere that sells this size?

My son has an IKEA bed too I just stretch the sheet and it still stays on all night

Iwantmyoldnameback · 27/09/2022 09:42

I put the sizes into Google.

Imissmoominmama · 27/09/2022 09:43

Doesn’t IKEA sell sheets to fit?

olympicsrock · 27/09/2022 09:44

Need a deep fitted sheet to allow it to stretch. Have never seen sheepskin sheets though , just brushed cotton

DisplayPurposesOnly · 27/09/2022 09:45

Flat sheets

Letsbekindplease · 27/09/2022 10:05

Flat sheet. I also love to pop one of those £6 Asda blankets on top for my DS. He loves being cosy.

wottabargain · 27/09/2022 10:08

Flat sheet and use the elastic
suspender things across the corners so it stays put. From Lakeland I think.

Sprig1 · 27/09/2022 10:11

Buy extra deep sheets, they should be a good fit.

Bear2014 · 27/09/2022 10:13

Lots of sellers on ebay, etsy etc do custom sizes of stuff like that.

ComtesseDeSpair · 27/09/2022 10:14

Dunelm sell fleece (and other) fitted sheets in a range of depths. Before I discovered them I was also having the ballache of stretching normal sheets.

summergone · 27/09/2022 10:16

@ComtesseDeSpair I'm off to dunelm on Saturday will have a look , my days of sheet stretching may be over

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 27/09/2022 10:18

Just put a double folded fleece underneath the brushed cotton fitted sheet.

NellyBarney · 27/09/2022 10:18

I got the Dunelm fleece sheets for my kids IKEA beds and they fitted alright and were nice a fluffy.

ItsRainingPens · 27/09/2022 10:18

Buy the IKEA sheets

FlounderingFruitcake · 27/09/2022 10:19

Buy the ikea sheets and use a fleece blanket from wherever

NellyBarney · 27/09/2022 10:22

I think Dunelm calls their range Teddy Bear Bedding, and I never had a problem stretching them over an IKEA mattress, but then we had relatively thin foam mattrasses rather than deep pocket sprung ones.

SoupDragon · 27/09/2022 10:24

DD has the Dunelm teddy sheets and they fit just fine. They're horrible though as they go all flat and collect threads from everything.

Doesn’t IKEA sell sheets to fit?

Yes they do and buying them there is the obvious answer. Alhough they may not have the fleecy (plastic, static-y) ones the OP is looking for.

Xiaoxiong · 27/09/2022 10:29

If you search "euro single" or "long single" you'll find these in the right size. We got some brushed cotton ones from Amazon which fit well but the best ones were from www.victorialinen.co.uk/ which are made in Lancashire. A little pricier but no bobbling - the Ikea ones and the Amazon ones both bobbled.

BarbaraofSeville · 27/09/2022 10:35

Just put a fleece under the fitted sheet. They sell cheap fleeces at Ikea, along with sheets to fit their beds.

Then thick duvets and extra blankets if necessary from Ikea or elsewhere. I don't understand the issue TBH. We have an Ikea King size and a spare single and Ikea sell a huge range of well priced bedding and throws to fit their beds.

I'm also a bit baffled as to how much bedding people think they need. We've never had our heating on overnight and haven't even switched from the 4.5 tog quilt for the last few years. At worst I put on a t-shirt and socks if I get a bit cold, yet half of people on here seem to be using enough bedclothes and bedding to be warm sleeping in a tent outside, rather than inside.

silentpool · 27/09/2022 10:39

I have a wool underlay (like a wool fitted sheet) which is nice. Another option would be flat sheets?

barelyfunctional · 27/09/2022 10:39

I buy old wool blankets from charity shops, put them through a hot wash to clean and felt them up a bit then put them under the normal sheet, makes it nice and cosy

2bazookas · 27/09/2022 11:38

That vis a standard adult mattress length so any supplier should have bedding to fit.

For children I recommend cosy layers;

Mattress
then
fitted waterproof silent mattress protector
then
Fleecy fitted mattress cover
then
fitted brushed cotton sheet , and brushed cotton duvet cover.

Hankunamatata · 27/09/2022 11:42

I just use flat undersheet and leave bottom bit uncovered under sheet as kids feet down go down that far anyway

SpaceJamtart · 27/09/2022 11:50

I just use the ikea sheets and use small double fluffy blankets sort of wrapped round the matress on top of the sheet to make it warmer and softer.
Our house is cold, and the matresses are a bit limp but the matress toppers helped a lot- made them bouncy and warm and all those layers really helps.
