Baby due 12th Feb, likely ELCS, so possibly comes the week before.
Already have a 5yo at home.
A nan may come for a day to help but no near or extended support available.
DH invited on stag do to mainland Europe 7-11th March.
Is trying to set the scene that it's not a terrible idea and maybe he could go.

AIBU to think he is off his rocker?
Or and I being a narky hag?

It'd be a no from me as you just don't know how your recovery will be. I've had 2 c-sections and the first one took me 6-8 weeks to feel even vaguely normal whereas the second one, I was up and doing the school run by week 2. The problem is that he'll already have booked and paid and you won't know how you'll be until it's too late.

I doubt there’s any extra brownie points in the afterlife for being a martyr. And certainly no advantage in this life.

Glad to see your update OP- he was being unreasonable and it’s good he’s recognised that.

Do you have any comprehension of what a c-section can involve and how often there are complications with recovery? What if she gets an infection? What if the wound doesn't heal well and she can't even lift the baby never mind the 4 year old?

She won't be able to drive that soon - what if she needs to do school run/doctor appt/hospital appt?
OP has already said there's no long term support available.

Glad he's come back and realised it's a non starter - your DH has more sense than this poster!

Eh, I couldn't get worked up about this

Full disclosure I went on a 2 night weekend away myself 4.5 weeks after my second ELCS and DH coped just fine with eldest DD and the baby.

In your shoes I'd play it by ear, you might be fine 4 days post section, let alone a few weeks. But you might also need longer to recover.
