I broke up with my ex this time last year as his eldest DD from a previous marraige was making my life so unbearable i couldnt stay. He wouldnt address the issues, so i called time when our DD was 14 months.
I had to stay in our home for a while as I had nowhere to go, and moved in with my parents shortly after Christmas.
Finding a house took a few months, but completing took almost 8. The house was ready and unoccupied, it was purely a crap solicitor.
Fast forward to now, weve moved in a few weeks and now my employer has told me my job is no longer secure due to the cost of living crisis.
Im a lone parent with a new mortgage on a shared ownership property, with no childcare available to me.
I dont receive CM (Separate issue), and have no clue where to turn!

I dont want to be stuck in a rut with no way out, but i feel like im drowning.
I am so happy I have my DD as she is just pure joy, but i never want to be in a position where ahe knows we are poor.

All ideas welcome...

I believe it costs £20 to put in a claim for child maintenance. The money should be taken directly from your ex wage to you

When your child is older, you could work over time or work a second job to earn more income

Yes ro the 25% council tax discount. Ive applied for a water bill reduction, but cant get it until UC is awarded.

Bit of a delay, but thought I'd update. After your suggestions, i applied for UC the day i started this thread, and yesterday received the news that i am able to claim £120 a month on top of Child benefit.

So a massive thank you for giving me the push.....

I have also almost got my application ready for the bookkeeping job suggested.

Ive applied for everything I maybe able to get help with Water/Medical bills etc and am awaiting the verdict on those.

CMS in my next hurdle.

In the meantime, I have been the recipient of the most extraordinary gift from a friend. She is covering the cost of some classes for my DD so she doesnt miss out, and i dont have to worry about them.
Blessed is an understatement.

Whilst i know that every situation is only temporary and the decisions you make affect the next phase, i now feel that via your help and advice, and the kindness of my friend, things are looking up and im in a better headapace to fight for the next phase to be better. Xx
