To feel ashamed

That my sons father is in prison (long term)

It’s the whole having to lie, we haven’t done anything wrong.

Hopefully there is something here that is experiencing the same thing…

My kids dad was too.
i started not telling people as embarrassing in playground and stuff but when they found out people were so lovely (bar the odd snob who I couldn’t care less about). It’s not us or the kids who have done anything wrong and any decent person will see that x

@DimDreamLight

Dont feel ashamed, you and your son have done nothing wrong.

His fathers actions are only a reflection on him, not you and your child.

No decent person would ever judge you or your child for this.

Dont feel the need to lie extensively, can you not just say you are no longer together or he moved away - these are technically true, no?

Chin up!

@newsaint

Thanks for your comment, yes that’s what I have been telling people. He played a major part in my sons life, and my son has also had to lie to friends.

Why should you feel ashamed?

His prison time is not a reflection on you or your son. It's on him alone.

Anyone who judges you for it, is completely wrong.

Well

I know I shouldn’t, it’s just embarrassing.
