Anyone got an absolute bargain or something they couldn't find anywhere else but eBay came good?

I'm disappointed a lot so would be good to hear what your experience has been like?

Yes…..the loveliest pair of red suede shoes for £14 never been worn by the seller…..everyone comments on them all the time ☺️
Never been disappointed by anything sold on EBay.

In the early days of eBay, I got lots of fabulous jewellery for peanuts - several 9 carat gold rings for £10 - £15, a god watch with 9 carat gold bracelet for £20 and a jewelled cross and chain for £20 which is still listed by a high street jeweller for £350. Nowadays sellers set much higher minimum bids.

A solid oak double chest of drawers for £80. They're usually around £300

Kitchen for £8k. The electrical goods alone (all brand new) were worth £10k and the units easily >£20k.

That is amazing

I've only bought one thing on Ebay but I'm happy with it.

It's a chest of drawers from Heals. Was £900 to buy new, I got it for £200 when it was a few years old but as far as I could see in perfect condition. No scratches or marks. We still have it 10 years later and going strong.

I got a watch worth over £100 for just £1. OK its second hand but it looks as good as new.

I love an ebay bargain. I got a Sony camera with the Carl Zeiss lens for £6 including postage. It looks almost unused and takes lovely pictures.
I got my air fryer for £30.

I fell in love with a Zoffany curtain fabric for my bedroom but just couldn’t bring myself to pay the £140 per metre retail price for it. Found the exact length I needed on eBay - for £25 a metre!

A few months ago we were looking for a sofabed for the spare room, I‘d honestly have been happy with an Ikea piece in good nick. Saw a red two-seater on offer for 80 euros, terrible photo, but we thought we‘d go along to look at it.
Turns out it was a house clearance after the owner’s death and the clearance guy just wanted to get rid of all the contents quickly. I could see straight away that it was way above Ikea in quality and took it on the spot. Getting it down the stairs was the biggest issue because it was a solid wood frame. I looked up the manufacturer and found out it’s a designer sofa selling for 1800 euros - from the condition it’s clearly hardly been used. A pretty good bargain all told.

Dining table that was worth about £700 for £70. It had a slight chip in the wood on one side but a day of sanding and revarnishing and it looks like new.

Hopelessacademic · 25/09/2022 21:01

Loads! A 3k sofabed for a couple of hundred, several nice dresses for events, loads of baby clothes, our pram (£250 instead of 800!), basically all my maternity clothes...
Had a few fails though too, I find ebay a bit of a gamble!

mamaduckbone · 25/09/2022 21:04

A beautiful teak 60s sideboard for £9.80. It needed a bit of fixing but we've had it for about 15 years now and it's still going strong.

husbandcallsmepickle · 25/09/2022 21:13

Chest freezer for 99p.
The people selling it had moved into a house and it had been left in a garage so they just wanted it gone.

I love vintage style dresses
just bought a bundle of two dresses that where up for £30 but after eyeing them up,I decided I couldn’t afford them
got an offer-£15 + postage
i snapped them up

bought a ring for £6.99 with my fils birthstone set in it (we’d just lost him)
got a jeweller friend to have a look-it’s worth £500+

pair of boots that I’d been looking at for £190 in the shops
i got them for £2.99 (plus £2.99 postage)

I got a bulk buy of Victorian milk bottles-I collect vintage bits
£1.99 for 6 bottles

i used to have a small holly hobby mirror as a child-my mother would have clear outs regularly and it went
I found what I thought was the same size for £3
it arrived-it is bloody massive and I love it

my son wanted an ashtray
i went on eBay and found a really lovely vintage one-cost me £5
he was over the moon with it as he wanted the same one but they where upwards of £30

my partners aunt wanted a pine bedside table for her son-they where £150+
I found her one, within walking distance of her house for £12-brand new-still in the wrapping
she collected it the next day and they where over the moon
