After going to the hairdressers?
Today my hairdresser washed one womans hair, did the deep head massage thing and then without washing her hands, then did mine. Aibu to think this is unhygienic ?

Where are Hairdressers open Sunday

Loads here. They tend to shut Mon/Tue.

TwoMonthsOff · 25/09/2022 19:29

@bellac11 Really genuine question - none here at all

user1477249785 · 25/09/2022 19:30

OP, said with kindness, are you a little irrational about germs? This doesn't feel like a normal response and I think it's worth examining what lies behind it.

CandyLeBonBon · 25/09/2022 19:30

She's more likely to catch something from your previously unwashed hair than the other way around, but if it makes you feel better, you crack on.

bellac11 · 25/09/2022 19:32

Theres about 6 open in our nearest town (I had to google to check I wasnt going mad) on Sundays

But I still dont believe this is a genuine thread!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 25/09/2022 19:33

What a waste of a good blow dry!

W00p · 25/09/2022 19:34

Give me strength.

TwoMonthsOff · 25/09/2022 19:34

@bellac11
i just looked too out of curiosity -the three Toni & Guy all closed and only three in the whole county looked to be open
I just thought it was one of the rare businesses that were not open Sundays.

Confused
kingtamponthefurred · 25/09/2022 19:40

Well, obviously, she should have sterilised her hands and entire body with boiling water before approaching your sacred presence.

She should have chopped her hands off, get rid of her dirty hands.

BattenburgDonkey · 25/09/2022 19:42

You no shampoo is soap right? Wash your hair for whatever reasons you like, but her hands won’t have been dirty after washing something in soap and water.

McConkeysPlate · 25/09/2022 19:42

Her hands are probably cleaner than yours.

onlythreenow · 25/09/2022 19:51

I couldn't care less. How do some people get through life worrying about such silly things?

Rogue1001MNer · 25/09/2022 19:51

Hilarious!

cawfeee · 25/09/2022 19:53

Is your hair really dirty op, are you worried she might have ruined her nails touching your head ?

BatteryPoweredMammy · 25/09/2022 20:11

So she’s been lathering someone else’s hair with hot soapy water, thoroughly rinsed it from her now clean head and now come to shampoo you?

I don’t see the issue unless the hairdresser isn’t following basic hygiene practices.

If it helps your understanding, when the hairdresser is ‘playing’ with your hair during your chit chat consultation where they’re asking “what would you like me to do today?” etc…they’re actually checking for headlice at the same time.

If there’s any evidence of Lice or eggs, they can’t carry out the service and you would be (discreetly) advised of the issue and recommendations for treatments.

If your hairdresser doesn’t do an initial brief consultation but takes you straight to the shampoo bowl, find another more hygienic hairdresser!!

Thissucksmonkeynuts · 25/09/2022 19:13

That wouldn't bother me, but I do generally wash my hair when I get back from the hair dressers because all the stuff they put on it make me feel horrible .

@Thissucksmonkeynuts

why don’t you just ask them to not put any product on?

LuckySantangelo35 · 25/09/2022 20:13

J0y · 25/09/2022 19:23

I often do this but for different reasons. The dye makes my scalp itch and I do the curls better. Had it done yesterday and washed it this morning, so I held out!!

@J0y

you can curl hair better than a hairdresser??

VickerishAllsort · 25/09/2022 20:15

You are definitely not paying your psychoanalyst enough
