Can I fit this much life admin in a week?

ChesterDraws4Sale · 24/09/2022 07:14

I’m moving from part-time to full-time work in October and will have one week off between jobs.

I’m thinking this is my chance to get everything sorted in my life before I have no time. 2 primary age DCs.

I’ll have 6 hours a day, a total of 30 hours.

Heres the plan.
Batch cook dinners
Deep clean the house
See friends for coffees
Maybe plan Christmas?

AIBU to think that will fit into 1 week? Don’t want to set myself up to fail. What else can I be doing with my wonderful week of organisation time to make life easier once I’m working full time?

With kids = no
Without kids = definitely manageable ✅

ChesterDraws4Sale · 24/09/2022 12:39

Apologies to those who dislike the ‘life admin’ phrase. I couldn’t think of a collective term other than that to describe what I’m hoping to fit in.

Get a cleaner.
Get Gousto meals for a few weeks.
Chill out about Christmas.
Have a nice relaxing week off doing nothing.

I came onto say similar.

For the love of God, spend the time relaxing. You can fit cleaning and cooking around working full time like everyone else does. You won't get the time to chill out child free when you're working full time.

What is your husband doing to plan for when you work full time?

Op ignores that question..

I'd LOVE this!

Day 1.

Order any storage/ cleaning supplies / batch cooking storage / helpful shit you can afford. Robot vacuum, drawer dividers, box or bag for each person's laundry...

I'd rummage in each room to find chucky out stuff. No cleaning or sorting, just fill charity bags and tip bags.

Take the stuff to the charity shop and tip

Shop for batch cooking on the way home

Day 2.

Collect ALL of the laundry and pile it up. Work through it as the day goes on. I have a box per person and as soon as it is dry it goes in the box to be put away

Batch cook while listening to an audio book on Alexa.

Create a Christmas shopping list and Chriatmas to-do list and add stuff to it as I cook and think

Deal with the washer while cooking

Day 3

Clean and sort upstairs. It's clutter free as you binned all the shit on Day 1

Day 4

Clean and sort downstairs

Day 5

Meet friends and chill!

Ooh I'm loving some of these tips! I'm going to go through each room with a bin liner and take out all the stuff that needs sorting/charity. Then clean another day. Much easier way of doing it, thank you

@Fourwhitepaws

Keep banging that drum. You've already pointed out " he's a catch".

Nice.

You know squat about OP's life but you're going to squeeze it into your experience.

Considering the OP herself has said he hasn't bothered to cook dinner for the family once since having kids, he really isn't a catch

Is there a reason you're so invested in this post?

IWentAwayIStayedAway · 24/09/2022 13:13

@Greenapplesandpears was thinking the same thing. you captured it more politely than me. Full of pricks was my thought. but prefer how you said it.

sunglassesonthetable · 24/09/2022 13:18

None of your biz. If I was do you think I'd be telling you??😂

And yes you " know" OP's life. Keep going .
You sound a catch yourself.

So invested

It's very peculiar

I don't know the OPs life, but she has said herself he hasn't cooked once since the kids arrived

So again, hardly a prize

Crack out the old retorts @pickledeggnog

No less " peculiar " than sneering at someone's OH when you know 1 fact about them.

I don't know the OP's life doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

sunglassesonthetable · 24/09/2022 13:32

Sensibly OP has chosen to completely ignore the sneers on here. Unlike me.

ChesterDraws4Sale · 24/09/2022 13:33

Fourwhitepaws · 24/09/2022 12:44

Op ignores that question..

I’m not ignoring it, it’s a fair point. I think he doesn’t realise how much I’ve taken on since the children were born - until then everything was 50/50 and it’s gradually slipped into lots of things being my responsibility.

Even when I’m full time he’ll still be working far longer hours than I will. But he will need to up his game to pick up the slack. I will delegate a lot more of the childcare to him, as well as housework and cooking.

Considering you're posting on this thread 10x as much as the OP getting oddly invested

Yes

You need a hobby

Or a life

Probably both

keep going @pickledeggnog you're sounding more " peculiar " with every post.

Popaholic · 24/09/2022 13:44

I would order click&collect for food to batch cook in your week off so you arent wasting time

Day 1: defrost the freezer, declutter to remove unneeded clothes and toys, empty and wipe down kitchen cupboards, clean the oven.

Day 2: pick up the click&collect and batch cook. Tidy up the garden ready for winter.

Day 3: vacuum the car, put air in the tyres and top up antifreeze screen wash ready for winter. Finish the gardening.

Day 4: take the day off and see friends

Day 5: generally clean the house top to bottom

I would also do a playdate for DC after school every day except day 4 so you can call in favours when you're working!

luckylavender · 24/09/2022 13:46

gogohmm · 24/09/2022 13:49

I do this and work 25 hours a week!
