Difficulties reading documents on a screen

BeachTree · 21/09/2022 19:43

Does anyone else find it difficult to read from a screen, and finds it much easier to read from paper?

Whenever I have documents or letters to read for work, I need to print the off and then I am able to read it far more easily.

If I look at the screen, I manage to read perhaps a couple of sentences and then find it increasily hard to focus and get through the text. Sometimes it feels almost impossible.

I notice this is gradually getting worse with age. aibu to have to print everything off just to make sense of it.

I am exactly the same! I hate it. It’s like I can’t process the information but no issue when on paper.

I usually find that as soon as I hit send on an email all the previously invisible errors jump off the screen at me.

Same. And changing colours to more eye friendly doesn't help either.
I own lazer printer now so it doesn't cost me fortune!

Yy to the rmail mistakes revealing themselves after pressing send!

I will just add that it did get bit better with correct glassess... But just a bit

Exactly the same here.

I moved house last year - buying and selling.

The solicitor sent me reams and reams of document, and admittedly, some of it I didn't actually need to read so didn't print that, but for everything else it was the only way I could take it in properly.

I am like this. When I was doing my uni assignments, especially my dissertation (earlier this year) I had dozens of papers to read and I couldn't afford to print them all off so had to read them online. It hurt my eyes (even with glasses) plus I couldn't make notes as easily - I much prefer paper copies.

I'm the same! And I recently went for an eye test and have 20/20 vision so it's not a long/short sighted thing. My job requires lots and lots of reading documents (law) and I have to print everything out. The confidential waste pile in my office is a nightmare! But I make mistakes if I read things on the screen so it has to be done.

Wow, it's reassuring to know this is a 'thing'! I sometimes wondered if there was something with me!

I am the exact same. I find it much easier to read documents on paper rather than on screen. Equally when I was in University I found it much easier to handwrite essays and then type them up rather than on laptop.
