To ask how much you would expect to pay for this school trip?

Trying to work out if I am just being tight! I know the attraction as we have visited it recently and it is only £4.50 per child general admission to get in - and I would expect an educational visit to have preferential rates?

  • Trip to Museum
  • Transport there and back (50 miles each way)

What would you expect to pay? ( I know that we aren't obliged to pay it. I will, as it wouldn't feel right not to.)

I was shocked to discover when our school band attends a football game to play for them the buses to get them there and back costs $5k.

If travelling by coach about £15 due to cost of the coach.

I would expect to pay £20. I wouldn't be happy about it because I could take my child there cheaper, but it's a long way on the coach so not an unreasonable price.

We are paying £5 next week for a trip to a museum which usually costs £11 for child entry. It’s 40 miles away and they are travelling by coach. We just have one trip a year usually and it’s subsidised by the school and parent council

Univ lecturer here who uses coaches. 50 seater to do a 100 mile each way whole day trip (8.45 to 6.00) was £675 in June. Same size coach for 40 mile each way half day trip was £400. Prices will be higher now - so 30 kids might be about £17 each for a school day trip plus entry fee so £22 is about right I think.

Mid to high 20s.

It’s the coach. They cost hundreds. I would say £30. I paid £45 last summer for a trip to Thorpe park which apparently lasted 2 hours due to traffic. But it’s the experience that counts and some kids enjoy the coach more than the trip

As well as the cost of the coach, the admission might be more for a school.trip if they have a dedicated guide to show them round.

This is so helpful thank you. Its £22 which felt a little steep given the low entry price but the transport cost explains it. Thanks!

Yes that is actually quite cheap (although a bloody fortune of you don't have it!).

An hour each way trip for coach will come to around £30 each but will vary on company and location etc.

I work for a school and we have recently been quoted £2k for a return trip to a destination a few counties away - that would be approx £45 pp on travel alone before we even look at entry prices. It is horrendously expensive but trips are so important, some students have never been outside our area / to the theatre etc etc.
