Can a virus have completely different symptoms in children ?

I got felt very nauseous and vomited a bit on Friday.

I was then fine most of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday evening I started feeling nauseous and vomited a lot.

My baby has had a bit of a cold all week before I got sick. My toddler too, but very very minor in toddler.

All the adults I saw Saturday and Sunday have all come down with D and V.

Two questions, how come Friday after the vomiting and bit of a rest I was fine, only to be struck down again Sunday night ?

It sounds like it's so contagious if all the adults have had it now, when will my kids get it ? Or could this virus have been the little cold they've been having ?

You're all probably going to tell me you don't have a crystal ball.. but I thought I would ask anyway..

A virus is a bit like a spectrum, you can get any of the symptoms, everyone will feel different with the same virus.

Yes, although the general pattern is kids are more prone to get vomiting symptoms than adults.

Assuming the kids don't get this big.. praying they don't.

Could it be the rotavirus bug then ? Seeing as they've had a vaccination against that ( the baby literally a few weeks ago ) and the toddler only a couple of years ago..

Toddler now has barking cough.. croup sounding... please tell me there won't be a vomiting bug on top of that... no crystal balls I guess !
