School dinners for Reception Q vegetarian all day breakfast

I understand from Reception to Year 2 school dinners are free?
My dd who has started Primary is wondering about the food. She eats really well and always did in nursery except for if it was a bit too exotic (Moroccan stew for example)

Anyway, alot of the parents arent happy with the meals. My dd is not really eating all her food. There are worst children who refuse to eat nothing and one of the mums has said she has now been told to put her dd on packed lunches!
Im dreading if they say this with mine. Shes not that bad but if shes not eating much then may be they will.
Is this unreasonable? The parents will have to fork out money for food not to mention the time and faff of it.

Tomorrow, the only thing I can see she may like is "vegetarian all day breakfast" does anyone know what this will have? Bit worried now. I hardly get to talk to the Teachers but wonderong if anyone might jave an idea of what this would entail.

Thanks

They have this in my dc school. It's usually hash brown, omlette, spaghetti hoops and a Quorn sausage.

If you order via live kitchen, you should be able to click on the little 'i' next to it and it will tell you what it consists of

I had to put my 3 on packed lunches despite being entitled to fsm 😒

Our veggie breakfast would have veggie sausages, hash brown and baked beans (sometimes a cooked tomato and/or mushrooms)

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 20/09/2022 17:32

I work in Reception and our all day veg breakfast today was small omelette, beans, hash brown, quorn sausage and bread.

At my grandkids school, the school website shows the menus for each week.

I doubt they'll tell you to put them on packed lunches unless you're complaining. The amount kids eat varies widely so unless they think a child isn't eating anything ever, nothing will be said. Some days kids don't like things or eat very little. I remember mine being offered noodles once as they'd run out of what they'd ordered. I got a call that they might be hungry as apparently they'd replied that they couldn't possibly eat noodles without chopsticks 😂

Normally school provides several options (most schools I knopw of offer a fall back jacket with cheese if none of the main meal options appeal). If you child won't eat any of those it's up to you to provide an alternative. As long as the food is, generally, ok it's unreasonable to expect them to cater to every single child's preference.
