Night feeds!

DS is 3 months old. DH works shifts and whilst he is a very hands on Dad during his days off, has never done a night feed. His view is very much that as I am on maternity leave it is my sole responsibility to get up each and every night to do the night feeds, even on his days off.
Am I being unreasonable to expect him to at least offer to do a night feed? I’m shattered and would love just one full nights sleep!

I think he should do one/them when he isn’t at work the next day.

I’m in two minds. You’re shattered and you’re doing the lions share and I get it. I’m doing Nightfeeds too then I need to see to the school lot in three hours. Mine also works shifts and works away a fair bit too. He’s currently away down south for someone’s totally understated funeral that didn’t ruin any of our meticulously constructed family plans and leave us financially and logistically worse off🙄and I get it, you’re knackered but for me I’d just rather do it myself. I can cat nap with the baby when the others at school or out playing but he can’t cat nap standing around guarding the touring corpse.

I’ve worked shifts for years too and they screw with your system. Your first day and night off isn’t really off because you’re trying to adjust your clock back to normal and your last day off isn’t either because you’re trying to adjust your body clock to the shift you’re going back into.

On a practical note try to get some power naps in when the baby is. Don’t stress over little things like a bit less washing being done or having oven teas for a night or two. It’s tough in the beginning but you’re nearly there to the sleep through the night bit.

He should help you when not working. You're looking after a baby all day every day - not exactly relaxing.
