George and Charlotte in the procession today

I’ve just read that George and Charlotte are going to be in the funeral procession today. I’m a bit gobsmacked. Why would their family want them involved in the spectacle? I thought they wanted them to have a ‘normal’ life. Am I alone in feeling uncomfortable with this?
IABU it’s right and proper that they attend their great granny’s funeral
IANBU Young children have no place at any funeral let alone this massive event. They should be at home with their Nanny.

I feel sorry for Louis. He always seems to be left in the shadows. I think it should’ve been all three or none at all

Are you “that person” who takes all the siblings to a children’s party even though they’re not invited?

Charlotte and George won't know that this is out of the ordinary though. They are used to big crowds and grand events.

As far as they’re concerned they went to a big church where there were a lot of people. It was probably a bit boring and they might have got a bit hungry. Then they travelled in a car and lots of people were looking at them.

Obviously they have no idea that 4 billion people are watching them on TV, and they are getting used to the idea that they should behave well in public and that people will be watching them.

Perhaps it’s because I come from a generation when even we run of the mill children were expected to behave well in public, when it was normal for children sometimes to have to do things that were a bit boring and when we weren’t fed snacks every hour, that I don’t really understand what people are fussing about.

Feels odd that you're 'gobsmacked' about something that is clearly a family's decision to make.
They've been born into an unusual life which will involve a lot of public ceremony - might as well start to get used to it.

Oh yes, definitely should have taken a 4yo to somewhere they're expected to be quiet and still for over an hour.

That would definitely go well.

And given how some people reacted over his (very normal for his age) antics at the jubilee, and how batshit people have been acting the last few weeks, I don't blame them for protecting him from the limelight on this occasion.

Charlotte looks just like the Queen so very fitting I think
