I agreed a price for a low value, second hand item of clothing with a seller on eBay, and paid instantly, including the postage.
I expected dispatch in a couple of working days, as stated (as it was about 7pm), but it was marked as dispatched around midnight.
Ten days later, I queried where the item was, as I'd had no tracking. I'm aware of Royal Mail strikes, but I wanted to be able to see if there was a specific delay.
The seller announced that the item has been sent immediately, returned to her a few days later (???), and posted again a few days before I got in contact. She then updated the dispatch to the day of communication with me. I then received tracking which clearly showed she'd gone out to the post office a few hours after my message, still missing the cut off for last collection on a Friday before the bank holiday weekend, and hastily deposited it with Royal Mail, so if was just in the system.
She can't show the original tracking, despite saying she'd be happy to prove it. Then accused me of providing the wrong address, causing the return. I can't fathom why a strike would mean staff too busy to get the item to me, but easily able to deliver to sender. Then she told me she'd paid the postage twice, so I owed her a second lot, especially as item was so low priced in the first place. No acknowledgement that I'd paid what was agreed and had nothing to show for it.
When I asked why she didn't tell me she'd received if back, double check the address with me or even tell me she needed more postage at the time, she stated that she'd sent it to me days ago, which just isn't true.
She decided I was trying to scam her and that it would be impossible for the item not to be received now there were tracking details. I have no proof the number she's given me is even my item to my address.
She's now demanding I return the item, knowing full well I don't have it, and not understanding that I actually wanted to buy it, just was concerned as to where if was, and she has no right to request this. She has sent me about 30 separate messages since Friday evening, the latest telling me she could easily get more for it with no problem!
eBay can't step in until Thursday, due to the bank holiday. Do I have to put up with these messages and emails until then?!
