Just curious to see what other people do at the weekend! Sometimes I feel guilty if I have nothing planned , feel like I should be making the most of two days off work even if I just want to mooch around the house being lazy 🤣

I’m a single mum and my toddler goes to his dads on a weekend, it’s the only time I can almost guarantee I can work so I work it, with the odd weekdays too.

Friday my son goes at 4pm so I’ll work a little 5-10pm.

Saturday i’ll get up, do the usual shower and quick clean round, i’ll work anywhere between the hours of 9am-7pm.

Sunday my shift is always a 7am-4pm, then my ex will pick me up from work and I get DC straight back and it’s back to parenting!

Come monday morning I am knackered but I tend to have a couple weekdays off in return for the weekend shifts so weekdays are my downtime while DC is at preschool 🤣

DS sees his tutor and I have been tutoring myself this morning. Got some freelance editing work to do for a client. Need to finish a course I’m doing. Also want to get some artwork done. Need to take DD to buy some warmer clothes, but think DH will do that. Then we need to sort out some boxes which have been stacked since we moved and extended. One of the kids will often cook on a Saturday or we’ll experiment with different foods. Then watch a film. Oh and fit in a dog walk!

We both work Monday - Friday so Saturday morning is housework, this morning it's turned into a full on clear out 😂
I'll be picking dd up from work this afternoon, going to visit my mum and this evening will be wine and Saturday night tv.
Sundays are usually a chill day, need to fit in the weekly shop at some point this weekend too. I've only just started working weekdays after working only weekends for the last 10 years so I'm loving weekends at the moment

Friday night - drinks with friends.
Saturday - Parkrun, coffee, swim, shopping, pub early eve, usually with a country walk, home in front of the TV by 9pm.
Sunday - lie in, swim, bike ride, nice dinner, TV in the evening.

DH works most weekends is it's just me and our two sons. On a Saturday we tend to go out-park, town, library, soft play etc. Or we will have plans with family or friends. Today both the boys have colds so we went to Lidl for some bits but now will be pottering about at home. They are currently playing the Xbox but I'll get them some activities out after lunch. Homework needs to be done too.

Sunday's we go to church and then typically go to the beach or soft play, both on the walk home from church. We don't tend to like days at home so usually are always out for at least a couple of hours.

We always have plans, we do a theme park one or both days, DC2 has a football match either Saturday or Sunday morning if we aren’t theme parking all weekend and sometimes he goes to watch football with his dad Saturday afternoon and me and DC1 will go for food, cinema or a walk if they do that.

DS who is 18 months wakes us up by 5 and DH works on Saturdays so he is out of the house by 7. DD has gymnastics 9-11 while I do the weekly food shop. Then home for lunch followed by DD’s drama class. We are back home by 4 so have an hour or so of playing with the DC during which DH gets home and I make a start on dinner.
Sunday again we are up by 5. DD has piano at 9 followed by DS swimming. Quick lunch and DD has her swimming. She finishes her homework in the afternoon and her and DH recently have started watching Blue Planet on iplayer while I make dinner. Once they are in bed, I do uniforms, school prep etc and an hour or so chilling with DH before bed. DS is still BF and wakes up during the night for a feed.
I really look forward to holidays!

I’m a single mum to a 7yo and she is at her dads every other weekend. I always feel guilty I’m not making the most of it 🤷‍♀️😂

When she’s home, we tend to do one day mooching in pj’s and the other doing something but that something might just be going round the shops, or maybe the park or the odd day out.

When she’s at her dads, Saturday I gut the house, do shopping but Sunday I quite often lie in and sit about in pj’s.

I work long hours during the week and we both are on the go all week, so sometimes all your fit to do is mooch 🤷‍♀️

Saturdays alternate between chilling at home with maybe a short walk to a local park or family days out for a hike or visiting somewhere of interest.

Sundays, my daughter has football school in the morning so we usually let her relax at home and do her homework on Sunday afternoon. We do occasionally go out for a Sunday roast at a pub.

PumpkinPie2016 · 17/09/2022 11:49

It obviously varies but often, not a lot. After a busy week of work/school/activities, we sometimes just want to relax.

Last weekend was very busy. Local kids athletics event swallowed Sat morning, then my parents came for dinner. DS had a party to go to on Sun as well.

This weekend is more relaxed. Took DS to the library this morning. Now back home and just mooching/doing a bit of housework.
Will go for a walk to the next village tomorrow, make sure school/work stuff is sorted and make a nice roast.

I don't think there's anything wrong with chilling at home.

Dannifaye · 17/09/2022 13:48

Mainly housework as work all week.

FreezyFreezy · 17/09/2022 13:52

Hanging about the house doing next to nothing whilst the dc play out and doing the housework unless it can be avoided or put off.
