To be worried about cat flees in my suitcase and going away tomorrow?

Hi, my cat turns out has flees. I found out today and this is something I've never experienced before,

Last night she was laying over my clothes to pack for holiday and I then put them into my suitcase with all the other clothes. Therefore my suitcase would now be infested with cat flees,

I go on holiday tomorrow there is no way I would have time to wash everything in there.

Is it something to be concerned about, do I need to do anything (other than treat the flees obviously) but I'm worried about the clothes in my suitcase?

Sorry I know this is probably sounding ridiculous but I'm worried

Also someone told me to let the cat roam the house to gather the fleas up is this not true?

Er no. Not true. Get proper spot on from the vet (not frontline) and Indorex the house.
I would want to wash the clothes. Or at least hang them outside for a while.

Thanks everyone I have emptied my suitcase hoovered it, used flea spray on it and put all of my clothes in the freezer overnight this apparently kills them (I hope) and was the easiest method for me as opposed to shaking and hanging them.

Let's hope I have an itch free holiday! Thanks again for all of your help

Have you sprayed the house and flea treated the cat though? If not you will soon itch when you return!

You need to freeze items for longer than 24h that to kill off eggs and larvae.

You need to treat the house, so all the soft furnishings and the carpets, which is why a flea bomb would be great to set off behind you as you go on holiday, with mass hoovering sessions when you get back.

You also need to treat the cat, properly, stuff from your vet.

The fleas will lay eggs which hatch into more fleas. I wouldn't leave for a holiday without dealing with it as you'll come back to more fleas?

Unfortunately letting the cat roam the house isn't going to sort this out for you.

I am just a bit concerned that the cat may be left in a house that has been treated with a toxic insecticide. Will the cat be out of the house when you treat the house? The cat does need treating with cat flea drops or spray.

My dog has had a really bad spate of fleas over the last few months. We tried everything on both the dog and the house and nothing worked until now when they have finally given up.

Over this time, none of us got a single bite. So I’d really not be in a panic over my clothes in a suitcase.
