To ask why it is so impossible to find banana-flavoured chocolate?

I just really fancy some. You can get orange-flavoured everywhere now, no need to tacke the Terry's chocolate orange - but where is all the banana-flavoured stuff?

(Yes I know about the Hotel Choc selector, they can bugger off at £4.50 a slab!)

I'm laughing at people who think banana and chocolate is strange but see nothing wrong with orange and chocolate.

Banana and chocolate make total sense together. They're both creamy, complement each other. (A barbecue desert recipe is to wrap banana and chocolate together in foil and heat on the fire.)

Orange and chocolate together makes no sense. Orange is acidic. Never came across the concept of orange and chocolate mix until I came to the UK, thought it was madness, possibly invented by some Brit several decades ago when imported fruit was a luxury and they wrongly thought mixing two luxuries together might be a good idea.

Think about it: a banana milkshake makes sense, but I've never heard of orange milkshake. Chocolate is milky, same rules should apply.

@Getoff while I welcome your support for the banana/chocolate combo, I must disagree with you re orange chocolate - food of the gods in all its forms (although the Galaxy version gives me the runs if consumed in volume, oddly).

See also chocolate and mint - shouldn't work, but it does!

I'm a bit anti raspberry/strawberry choc for myself though. Just feels wrong unless white chocolate (which everyone knows isn't really chocolate). Also salty chocolate i find a bit icky.

I like banana one and orange one. What I can't bear is mint 😳

Justcallmebebes · 13/09/2022 11:28

Sounds vile and a waste of a banana

Needmorelego · 13/09/2022 11:28

@HairyMcLarie they look dreadful.
I want one.
I want one right now 🤣

NeedMoMoney · 13/09/2022 11:37

In former east Germany they have exactly what you are looking for: banana flavoured chocolates in the shapes of bananas. I can think of nothing worse to eat.

I can only imagine that during the Cold War and earlier, bananas were so hard to come by in Eastern Europe that they made substitutes. Now the supermarkets are basically giving bananas away for free.

You need to get yourself to NZ! Behold the Cadburys Perky Nana!

Squishy foam banana wrapped in chocolate. Vile.

Perky Nanas are a crime against taste buds.

Bubblebubblebah · 13/09/2022 11:41

Estern Europe still has the ones you are thinking about @TeaAddict235 😁 still popular! So does Germany. Which maks me think Aldi ir Lidl moght stock some!

Havehope21 · 13/09/2022 11:41

Leonidas also sell banana flavour truffles, you can do a pick and mix box with them in.

AclowncalledAlice · 13/09/2022 11:44

Banana chocolate sounds amazing....much better than the abomination that is peanut butter with chocolate. 🤑

MaybeIWillFuckOffThen · 13/09/2022 11:45

Oooh banana ice cream might do the job actually.... Hmmmm is there any banana ice cream even any more??

MaybeIWillFuckOffThen · 13/09/2022 11:52

@AclowncalledAlice

I'm with you there. Love peanut butter. Love chocolate. Together? HELL no. Texturally horrible.

Banana flavoured anything is revolting, it doesn't translate well to other foods. A banana is the only thing that should taste of banana.

workworkworkugh · 13/09/2022 12:07

This is currently out in Australia, haven't tried it yet but it looks like something I would like haha

The Cadbury marvellous creation one was lovely!!! But I think they stopped doing it about 2 years ago...at least, I've not seen it in any shops

MyDucksInARow · 13/09/2022 12:11

Buy a big bar of chocolate, some chocolate moulds and banana flavouring (I recommend the brand Foodie Flavours). Melt the chocolate, add a tiny bit of flavouring and pour into the moulds to set. Ta-Dahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

MyneighbourisTotoro · 13/09/2022 12:12

Because anything banana flavoured is disgusting 🤢

@Getoff you have spent way too much time thinking about this. Can we be friends??? Grin

MimosaSunrise · 13/09/2022 12:22

I tried this: www.piccantino.co.uk/zotter-chocolate/organic-chocolate-banana

It wasn’t synthetic-tasting at all. Very true to a real banana, which was somehow rather weird. It didn’t live up to expectations, and I won’t be rushing to eat more banana chocolate. Some of their other flavours are amazing, though (lime and passionfruit is fantastic).

RincewindsHat · 13/09/2022 12:28

Lindt do an amazing banana split filled chocolate bar, some online stores in the UK sell it.

Pyewhacket · 13/09/2022 12:32

Melt some chocolate on the hob and add some banana essence.
