DD school bus always late

I’ve gone NC for this.

DD has started year 7 so it’s only week 2 here. The bus has been late every day since she first started. She feels quite stressed when she gets in because of the time. She was nearly 30mins late today. I’ve tried to reassure her over text this morning but now I’m feeling terrible because it feels like we’re not doing our best to ensure she gets to school on time. The bus is always late getting to her pick up point too.

Aibu to speak to school and raise my concerns or is it too early in the day? The traffic is really bad on their route so perhaps they need to change the times for pick up?

This is the first time I’ve a child going on a school bus so don’t know how best to approach this.

Aibu wait, don’t raise concerns now

Ainbu raise concerns now, they might be able to do something about it

Uncanny, I could have typed your OP, I even wondered if it's the same school!

Almost similar for us except that DC are in Year 9, they've been taking the school bus since the start of secondary, only occasionally had a late arrival at school but this year it's been terrible every single morning. DC said that it's because some new roadworks on the bus route have made the traffic really appalling. They're missing form time (registration) every day and sometimes the start of the first lesson.

We too are wondering about contacting the school and suggesting they shift the bus timetable slightly earlier.

It could be @Poisoningpigeons!
I’ll contact school.

Our school bus has had an issue with lateness for over a year. We have complained especially as we have to pay for it (no choice due to distance poor roads but due to a technicality we have to pay) and the bus has been getting more and more expensive.
School have just said they are aware and there is nothing they can do about it as they struggled to get a provider in the first place.

Raise with Council bus services folk (or whoever sorts contracts) and raise with the school. If its roadworks they should either adjust the route or change pick up times. We had this in yr 7 due to major roadworks causing chaos on the route, first day in school she was so late they thought she hadn't turned up and I nearly had heart failure, luckily I could see the lunch software and that she had eaten so knew she was there. This continued for 3 days (they were nearly 2 hrs late arriving poor kids) they then altered the routes so able to avoid the traffic works. No problem after that other than the bus came so early she had 45 minutes to kill before school. Not an issue till covid times when they shit the library and refrectory.

If public transport contact travel company. Tell them lateness is not acceptable they need to set off earlier. If arranged through LA then complain to them.

It's an issue for the school to sort;they've contracted the bus service;the bus company needs to schedule the route earlier if it's a permanent issue.

I hate the company my DD's school uses;the buses are clapped out rust buckets that I'm pretty sure haven't been updated since I was at school 25 years ago with grumpy old bastards with a bad attitude driving them and they charge nearly £20 a week for the pleasure of riding them.
