I wish I had a non judgemental circle to help in real life so here goes....
Our landlord is willing to sell the house we rent to us HOWEVER, they have raised the rent, and know we have been saving so hard for the last 2 years to try and scrape a 20k+ deposit together.
By the end of next year when they want to sell we will have 50k ish deposit (20k borrowed from family/gifted) the house is valued higher due to area but they are wanting to sell at 315k. We earn jointly atm 50k ish.
The house would need, new carpets through out, gardens sorted front and back, new windows, possibly a new boiler, new front door, decorating throughout, possibly new bathrooms, kitchen face lift ect.
Partner works full time has a good job, I work part time. We cannot get close to the amount we need to borrow because of my part time job. We are an "older couple I guess for first take buyers (30's/40's).
I cannot get more hours at my current work, and juggling 1 child with the school run is hard enough as it is. We only have 1 car, and have no help with childcare.
What can we do in a desperate bid to try and get this house we have a year and 4 months, were not in love with the house its small and needs alot of work, but its in a lovely area, close to partner's work and childs wonderful school. Great potential to sell on perhaps one day hopefully, and a step on the ladder!
Do I just take the plunge and ignore my terrible health and child's (child is nervous and also has health issues) and go for full time work else where, in a desperate bid to try and get the mortage, and just try and get child into clubs and keep child well and happy.
I think there might be a little wiggle room with the landlord but I could be wrong.
I'm sure the answer is really obvious I need a better paid/more hours to try and get the mortage.
I just have knowone to talk it over with and its driving me mad, I have 0 confidence at the moment and feel super low we have a year to try and make this happen, after 2 years working hard to save. (Landlord increases price obvs every year of what they want for the house).
Thank you
