To be fed up of no actual news!

I am so fed up with the so-called news being full of non-pieces about the Queen's death and Charles as King. I know there will be some coverage, but there is so much we are hardly getting any other news.

It is hardly as if there is little news around. One-third of Pakistan has been flooded with devastating consequences, very little coverage. Russia has been bombing the nuclear power station in Ukraine. I think Russia now ceased control. Is it safe? What are the consequences?

And there will be lots more happening that I know nothing about. Why should virtually all the news continue to be dominated by the death of a 96-year-old woman? It is totally ridiculous and way over the top.

Al Jazeera had surprisingly a lot more coverage of the Queen stuff than I had anticipated. Maybe the American networks will be better, although it tends to be obsessive with their national news as you might expect

Phrenologistsfinger · 12/09/2022 13:06

YANBU - I have been feeling the same!

antelopevalley · 12/09/2022 13:06

Thanks @MercurialMonday

@Penguinfeather781 The BBC news is detailing where exactly the car is and other ridiculous non-news because they do not have enough to say to cover the time allocated.
If this was done as it should be the BBC news would have a minutes news saying the coffin is travelling to Edinburgh from Balmoral and people turned up to view the procession. Cut to some filmed coverage. And then moved on to other news.
I am not saying it should not be covered at all. But I want actual news.
And the newspapers are just as bad with so many articles about the Queen. So much is being written that most of the articles are just vapid nonsense. It has become a game of how can I write another five hundred words on what a marvellous woman she was. It is so boring for all but the most ardent Royalist.

I have the reuters news app on my phone for world headlines then I dig deeper in the natl news channels in the country where stuff is happening

bellac11 · 12/09/2022 13:19

Im glued to it as well, Im surprised at how much I like watching it all

The other news will still be there on other channels and also back on the BBC once all this is finished

Some of us wont see this again in our lifetime

MermaidEyes · 12/09/2022 13:20

This is why I have Netflix for tv shows and Twitter for other news. I may watch the funeral but I couldn't care less about the rest of it.

converseandjeans · 12/09/2022 13:21

YANBU however prior to this all we heard about was the Tory leadership contest & continual reporting on the energy crisis. It seems news channels can't report on more than a couple of things at a time.

DarceyG · 12/09/2022 13:41

In a way I am glad, I was getting a bit addicted to the doom and gloom and now there is no news. It is like a media blackout. Cannot watch anymore coverage so watching different things and starting to feel more chilled.

TempsPerdu · 12/09/2022 13:47

LBC this morning felt reassuringly normal - news bulletins including actual news rather than just tedious minutiae of royal goings on, and James O’Brien daring to question in his show whether the blanket royal coverage and event cancellations might be overkill. Definitely less sycophantic and tedious than the BBC, which appears to have lost all its critical faculties.

TigerRag · 12/09/2022 13:51

Been feeling this way for months a sit was just (yes, I know we can't just ignore these things) Ukraine and Covid.

I want some happy news!

thereisonlyoneofme · 12/09/2022 14:01

antelopevalley Im surprised you are fed up with the coverage of the Queen considering you are all over the Royal Family boards usually

antelopevalley · 12/09/2022 14:08

@thereisonlyoneofme where you criticise me for posting articles about actual Royal Family news.
I want to know what is happening that is important. I am not at all interested in non-news, such as which town the coffin has gone through and what the locals think of it.
I have zero interest that Julie from Dundee thought it was important to come and see the coffin procession. And that is not news.

@antelopevalley

Well good for you. I was just saying I did. And others do. It’s not a competition and there are many other stations.

You seem very angry. Perhaps the emotion is best placed in other ways

If you don’t find the scenes from Edinburgh moving and the scenes from other places as well turn over and watch CBBC.

Seems more appropriate for you based on this tantrum you are having When there are many other choices .
