The greys are coming in.

I’m 44 and have managed to only have the odd one long, silver hair I’d yank out 🙈I have dark, long ish hair and there’s a fair few coming in now.
Do you just have to start dyeing your hair when the greys come in? I mean, obviously if you don’t want greys, I think it looks great on some people but just want my dark hair.
Can I pluck/snip them out? Do I go to a hairdresser or box dye 🤷🏻‍♀️Eurgh so annoying, like my original colour and can’t really be doing with extra maintenance

What do you all do?

If you google Samaritans they can help. Take care

I'd recommend a spot tint/balayage at a hairdressers, as opposed to highlights at this stage. That way the stylist can just add your "own" colour where required. Hold off on the highlights for when/if the greys spread or you need a softer overall colour, when your skin matures.

Don't know if this is a conspiracy from hair dye companies, but I have heard that pulling grey hair out by the roots just encourages more grey hair to grow out of your scalp. So I wouldn't do that personally. I would dye, even box dye if there's not that many.

I don’t think it’s true that six come to the funeral!

I’m dark brown and as my greys are concentrated in one area, use highlights focused there. It covers I’d say cover over 95%, sometimes odd one missed. I’d notice regrow after about 2 months, but the highlights seem to build a bit over time so after a couple of years, notice now more like every 3 months. Starting to now use slightly lighter highlights too so think growth less obvious against dark brown and can stretch.

id have less issue if was going proper grey all over, but these are random clusters and I just felt old and tired when I looked in mirror. Definitely feel better with the colour.

Let nature take its course! I decided in my 30s to stop highlighting my hair. I'm mid 40s now and have a bit of grey, but I never look as grey as someone with dyed hair and grey roots.

Tbf I call mine silver and actually think I am pert unicorn so feel free to ignore my opinion! But there is nothing wrong with women showing signs of aging. Everyone lucky enough to still be alive is aging.

and actually think I am pert unicorn

I started going grey about 18 months ago, so when I was nearly 33. I fought it for a bit but I've decided to let nature take its course and I've stopped having highlights so that I've got my natural colour coming in.

It feels like a really big step towards "getting older", probably the first one I've had to tackle and I'm not sure I've actually fully come to terms with it tbh.

When I had the odd one, I pulled them out, but there's a few more now and too many to yank out. I'm going to (attempt to) embrace it - I'm nearly 50 and never coloured it, so suspect I'm too lazy to bother with mega maintenance now.
