‘You do too much..’ Judgy people judging when your DC compete or do some sort of hobby that takes up a lot of time.

We are, by anyones standards, rather busy.
But our DC have found an activity which they love (actually we love too), have some talent/ability at, and enjoy competing at. That involves quite a bit of schlepping around country at weekends, as well as training in the week, and they also do other sports and clubs during the week. DH and I both work FT.
we’ve just got back from a weekend with a lot of travel, kids did fantastically well, and the comment from GPs is all ‘it’s too late, you do
too much, you don’t have enough sleep’.

how on earth do people think you get good at something without putting the time in?
We regularly make sure the DC are keen before we book or enter anything, but it’s always them wanting to do more than we can fit in.

anyone else experience this and have a good answer for it, or are they in fact right and Aibu?

It’s fine of course if it works for everybody, but downtime is important too. DO they get enough sleep?

Also, bear in mind it can be very hard for children to step back from a hobby when they are aware their parents are invested / also enjoy it / their social circle revolves around it.
My best friend played a musical instrument she hated (but was good at) for years and was miserable because she couldn't bear to disappoint her parents.
