To not know what to do with Lego?

Not kids Lego but my Lego. It’s so expensive and just seems like a dust trap once it’s built. Should I build it then sell on eBay? Keep it in a cupboard? Is there a magic trick for dusting it?
What do other people do?

We have a lot of lego, ranging from the ghostbusters fire house through to the small technic sets- at one point had about 50 sets! Went through and sold the ones we weren't that bothered about, and then the rest are assembled on shelves (haven't bothered with glass cases or anything) in the spare room etc.

Needmorelego · 11/09/2022 21:27

Use all the bricks you own to build a specially sealed room that dust can't get into and they buy more Lego to build and display in that room 😂

Is ‘adult Lego’ a thing, surely it’s just Lego.

We really need a like button for some of these answers!
Adult Lego generally is the stuff in specific kits that is expensive and complex to build. It’s a helpful distinction on a site where a lot of people will have tubs of loose bricks that their kids play with.

So like 12+

@Navigatingnewwaters it is kinda silly with their '18+' on some sets. Lego is Lego *
I prefer Friends and City myself.

  • Except Technic which is a horrible pain in the backside to build

Exactly, it’s fun for all 😊

My husband loves Lego. The display boxes you can buy specifically are extremely expensive. I freaked when I seen the price of the box to store the titanic Lego! He has some display cases from ikea with the cars and other smaller items. Some things are just sitting out getting dusty but most are in a display case of some sort. We are running out of room and he keeps telling me his next Lego purchase. We will need to move soon to house it all lol

I recently treated myself to the Friends Theatre school. It's lovely. Was impressed with the canal boat too.

Best ever theme was Elves though. Beautiful colours, pretty buildings and amazing dragons!

Needmorelego · 12/09/2022 00:24

@Whatsnewpussyhat I definitely regret not getting more Elves sets. Have you noticed on the Friends Theatre the play being shown appears to be an Elves play (maybe a musical?).

Needmorelego · 12/09/2022 00:27

@Whatsnewpussyhat it is a musical 😂

Fabulous. I have enough characters for that. Dragons will be too big though 😄

You need to move to a larger house so you can have a display room. Once that is full you will need to move again. It is the only way.

And eventually you will need to build yourself a new house out of Lego and live in that. It’s the only way!

scrivette · 12/09/2022 08:10

The 18 year old Lego sets are too complex for younger children to build - the Ferrari, Lamborghini etc have quite fiddly bits.

Needmorelego · 12/09/2022 08:26

@scrivette yes but plenty of 10 year olds can build the 18+ sets without breaking a sweat.

My 5 year old daughter loves the elves sets. She has a thing for dragons so we've been buying her sets when we see them going for a reasonable price on eBay. She has a few of the larger more recent ninjago dragons but the small elves ones are by far her favourites.

She's desperate for the white one but they go for a small fortune!

Weirdly, this is currently on my coffee table! (Scale might look off as it's stood on a duplo base plate)
It is gorgeous though and much bigger than all the others. I hope you manage to get one.

The big ninjago dragons are great but not as adorable as the elves ones.
