To think my toddler isn't fat but wellies don't fit him!

DS is 16 months old. He's always been a beefy boy, built like a rugby player.

I cant get bloody wellies on him! I don't buy him stiff clothes so I haven't noticed it with his clothes. He has extra wide feet.

I guess I'm asking 2 things.
1 if standard wellies don't fit is he too fat, I've always thought they all come in their own sizes and all that but it doesn't seem like anyone makes wellies that fit over his calves!

  1. Does anyone know of good brands for wellies for wide calves?

I had fat babies and chunky toddlers (4 of them). They all outgrew it by the time they were 4. They are all very slim now. If you are still using those adjectives when they are 6 then maybe that's when to start worrying.

I found wellies difficult at that age. They need more flex really.

Toddler wellies are awkward as foot size varies a lot and toddlers with big feet don't need the length. Decathlon had some sailing wellies that were a sensible price and looked wide.

My 2 have relatively smaller feet for their age (7 year old is a size 12 while nearly 4 year old is a 9) and 7 year old would quite like longer wellies that keep her feet dry in bigger puddles...

My 3 year old is build like a rugby forward without being fat - he just has substantial shoulders (yep felt them on the way out) with narrow hips. His chest measurement is bigger than his sister's already despite the age gap - neither of them carry any flab, it is just build.
