My Nan cooked a chicken curry yesterday, froze it and brought it round today. I just came downstairs and DH has cooked it again from frozen. It’s small diced chicken pieces not a leg etc. Is it ok to eat do you think? 10 weeks pregnant so being a bit careful…

Thanks!

Fine.

Sprogletsmum2 · 10/09/2022 20:39

Yep it's fine

Antarcticant · 10/09/2022 20:39

Yes, perfectly fine as long as it's piping hot.

dementedpixie · 10/09/2022 20:39

As long as its hot all the way through then it's fine

BlancmanegeBunny · 10/09/2022 20:39

If it was cooked fresh then frozen it is fine to reheat it as long as it is piping hot throughout.

Wouldloveanother · 10/09/2022 20:47

Great thanks everyone! I would’ve been gutted if you’d all said no! DH is under strict instructions to cook for an extra 15 minutes 🤤

I cook all mine from frozen again. Just make sure it boils a for bit to make aure meat reaches the correct temperature and you will always be fine.

WunWun · 10/09/2022 21:12

I don't understand, what else would you have done with it?

Defrosted it first? Was my query really.

Oh right. It would never have crossed my mind to defrost it first. I didn't know that was a thing people did tbh!

Antarcticant · 10/09/2022 21:19

Safer to cook from frozen as bacteria would have more opportunity to multiply if it slowly thawed at an ambient temperature.

dementedpixie · 10/09/2022 21:27

I usually defrost before reheating tbh

Wouldloveanother · 10/09/2022 21:53

Well he took my ‘make sure it’s thoroughly cooked’ instruction very literally, and incinerated it to the point that it was dry pulled chicken on noodles 😂

This is my thinking too, always from frozen. I usually microwave for a few mins to soften and then heat through in a pan

DeathMetalMum · 10/09/2022 21:55

Defrost in the fridge overnight usually, then reheat - takes less cooking time. But from frozen is fine, I usually cook longer than needed just to be sure.

JetBlackSteed · 10/09/2022 21:59

It didn't even need frozen if only cooked yesterday, reheating would be fine. But yes, from frozen is grand.
