Prison officer in a women's prison?

I'm qualified in teaching but seeking a career change.
As I'm getting older I'm also looking for a higher salary, and I've considered a prison officer role.
I would never do it in a male prison.
However I'm wondering if a female prison would be safer?
Nothing is 100% sure but I think that a women's prison might be less violent on the whole, correct me if I'm wrong.
I want to do this job to make a difference to people's lives, but I don't want to do a job where I'm at constant high risk of assault.
The salary proposed is 30k for a 39 hour working week which is something I've never been even close to earning.
I think employee benefits are generally good too.
Has anybody done this role or is doing it currently?

Yes I did consider it beforehand, but I think I'm just getting cold feet really.. I'm worried about wasting their time doing the interview if my heart isn't in it.

I was a prison officer for 20 years, I resigned in 2010 and I was earning £29k that was for 30 hours to. Starting salary is nowhere near that now, it's really low. In my opinion womens prisons are awful, I hated it and always felt on edge. I spent majority of my career in male prisons (I'm female) and apart from a few moments felt safe. I wouldn't go back to the prison service for the highest salary, it's changed so much now, it's not safe, prisoner's don't care, management don't care and my best friend hates the job! I'd seriously consider something else 😊

I start next week in OSG role but not womens prison it's mens cat B
