To go to London for the funeral?

I have never been to London, I hate crowds, I get lost easily.

I can get a train to London Waterloo, Google maps says it is 19 minutes walk to Westminster Abbey, do you think I'd get close enough to see anything?
Do you think it is possible to spend 10 hours in London considering everything will be closed?

I have spent my life being scared to do things, I'd like to go and pay my respects/be part of history.

I appreciate I sound like a wet wipe

I agree, it will be an unforgettable experience if that is something you want to do

Go if you want to, it will be an experience.

There will be food shops and Loos open. Take a spare phone battery, layers, rain gear, walking shoes.

Probably go to the mall. there will be lots of police milling around around to direct you and people will be friendly.

There will be maps and things published in the next few days. I’m guessing there will be big screens in some parks.

I was brought up in a big city but still feel like I should be chewing a straw while wearing a smock in London on recent visits. If you hate crowds and have never been to London (which is an amazing, beautiful place) I'd make plans to go afterwards on this occasion OP, it is going to be mayhem and unless you are very lucky, you won't see much.

The Mall was totally rammed today, good luck with any actual movement on 19th
