To wish people would donate to charity rather than laying flowers for the Queen

I realise people want to ‘do’ something but laying flowers and teddies outside royal residences etc is such a complete waste of money

It wouldn’t matter what charity they donated to instead - it would be a far better way of ‘doing’ something

You could say that giving flowers is pointless in every circumstance, as they aren't "for" anything, and will just die and be thrown away. But not everything in life has to be about monetary value.

I've put this on at least two other threads but I would have preferred a mass planting of bulbs instead of laying flowers.

The queen died at a perfect time of year for planting daffodil and tulip bulbs.

I saw a florist literally shout it , as best you can on here, on a thread about 'wasteful flowers' last week.

What’s wrong with doing both?

Plenty of forests will allow you to buy and let them plant a tree dedicated to whoever you like. What a contribution that would be, a living growing tree for years to come. So much better than dead flowers rotting on the ground.
