To give my toddler a 'picky tea' regularly?

Because he's going through a fussy stage and just seems to want the same stuff.

We usually offer whatever we are having but end up giving him something like toast soldiers with veg sticks, hummus and a side of fruit or pasta with tuna or chicken/ham etc..

Do they all go through this stage of seemingly only liking a handful of things?!

He adores fruit of any kind but struggles with veg although I try and offer it with every meal and he will have a small amount namely cucumber, sweet potato or sweetcorn.

Food is food. DD3 went through a long stage of only wanting “floor picnic”: cucumber sticks, cherry tomatoes, hummus, boiled egg, etc, on a plate, on the floor.

She’s currently only interested in ham sandwiches and only if she can eat them from within a large cardboard moving box, called My Quiet Box.

I pick my battles and I refuse to let food be a battle, too many awful memories of being the child forced to sit at the table and finish something I hated. So ham in a box it is.

😂😂 I love this. I hope you have an annual floor picnic to celebrate her birthday as she gets older.

Interesting to read opinions on this. I routinely give my DC a platter of various bits for lunch or tea. Eg crudités, hummus, cheese, nuts, ham, olives, breadsticks. She'll eat almost anything I serve her so it's about picky eating. IMO it's just an easy and fresh sort of meal. DH and I love eating that way too (with wine added)!

I just came on here to post an AIBU just like this. I wanted to ask if I could just give up making hot dinners!

DH never eats dinner at home because of work, I'm heavily pregnant and totally fed up of cooking a nice dinner for DD (3) to turn her nose up at it and then eventually eat a "snack plate" just before bed.

I know I'm meant to be exposing her to different food but it's all got a bit soul destroying!
