I’ve been waiting on a call back from a dr all day. I’ve been prescribed some penicillin, specifically Co Amoxiclav, does anyone know if you can mix this and Diazepam?

Theredjellybean · 09/09/2022 15:14

yes you can ( GP)

XtinaCaligulara · 09/09/2022 15:18

No you can't (GP)

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 09/09/2022 15:21

Go and speak to, or telephone, a pharmacist.

DrFoxtrot · 09/09/2022 15:22

Yes you can but you can get this info from your pharmacy, they're great for medication advice

Crispynoodle · 09/09/2022 15:22

XtinaCaligulara · 09/09/2022 15:18

No you can't (GP)

Why not? I can't see any contra indications

spoonielife95 · 09/09/2022 15:27

Yes you can, also in future if unsure, your best bet would be to ask the pharmacist - they know more about medications than anyone else in the medical profession

rainbowunicorn · 09/09/2022 15:39

Why in gods name would you ask a load of randoms on the Internet something that could have huge consequences for you if you had the wrong info given.
You do realise that people lie about what they do all the time on here.
A phonecall to the pharmacy would answer your question.

anotherpotoftea · 09/09/2022 15:40

Don’t take advice from people on here, anyone can claim to be anything.

Go to your nearest chemist and ask to talk to the pharmacist.

Magenta82 · 09/09/2022 15:42

Pharmacists are usually better at this kind of thing than GPs, they are the expso you would be better to speak to the Pharmacist when you pick up the prescription.

Magenta82 · 09/09/2022 15:42

XtinaCaligulara · 09/09/2022 15:43

@Crispynoodle

Oh I have no idea

But I'm trying to show the OP it's absolutely ridiculous to ask for medical advice on a forum

People can say they're a GP and not have the foggiest

anotherpotoftea · 09/09/2022 15:44

Someone who claims to be a GP and advises on medication on the internet = highly unlikely to be a GP

DickDarstedly · 09/09/2022 15:45

Call 111 or your pharmacy.

DD has twice been prescribed medication by the GP which the pharmacist has queried because of her pre existing conditions and the other medications she takes. It’s their job to know that stuff and they often know more than the GP.

SugerNiner · 09/09/2022 15:46

bnf.nice.org.uk/drugs/co-amoxiclav/

yes you can.

Dingalingo · 09/09/2022 15:46

Ask your pharmacist

maiafawnly · 09/09/2022 15:47

If in doubt just google the BNF its free to access and lists interactions between drugs.

Teenytinyfeet · 09/09/2022 15:48

Thanks all, GP finally rung back and confirmed I could.

Yes, that has been my experience. I have taken a prescription to our local pharmacy before, and they have questioned it based on current repeat prescriptions, then phoned the surgery to check.

MarshaMelrose · 09/09/2022 15:49

Our gps employ pharmacists for this very thing. I've had a discussion with him over my mums medication. He was very informed and clear.
