To think £4500 a month rent for this is ludicrous?!

I’m considering a temporary move to Bristol and renting out my house.

Bristol is a beautiful city but how can this be justified? Even if all bills are included

A small open plan kitchen and living room and not even an en-suite….

The two apartments aren't comparable though; the first is a fully serviced apartment - you literally need your clothes/personals and some food, everything else is taken care of - no cleaning, linen laundry or bills to pay. The London flat is a flat rental - you'll pay bills on top and have to do your own cleaning and bedding/towels.

TankFlyBossW4lk · 08/09/2022 23:11

It must be a mistake. That's about double the price of a zone 1/2 prime London location.

We pay less than that for a five bed in SW London!!!! That’s insane.

user1473878824 · 08/09/2022 23:19

It has to be a typo!

Does that include your council tax, utilities, cleaning, laundry and concierge?

DwSirMiss · 09/09/2022 05:55

Grim, looks like a dodgy dwelling.

HikingBoots · 09/09/2022 07:10

WTF! This must be a mistake, surely someone slipped and pressed the wrong button!

I know Bristol inside out and this is an obscenely high price for a 2 bed. It looks like the first flat DH and I ever rented - but that was back in the day for £650 a month!

This bit of Bristol is the 'city centre' (as much as Bristol has one - its quite spread out as a city) and it gets rowdy with drunks (including students) spilling out of bars and clubs. It's also an area not lived in by many people - its mainly commercial properties - so could feel a bit desolate.

If anyone pays that price they need their head checking.

MassiveSalad22 · 09/09/2022 07:29

Ew that’s ugly as fuck!! You would get cabin fever in that surely, it’s tiny. How high can the bills actually be?? Yes very central but so what, you can get around Bristol very easily and quickly so it’s not like it’s really worth that much to be that central.

Its a serviced apartment
So you get cleaning, towels, bedding etc
No council tax and no utility bills

This. It’s like renting a hotel room. Presumably on a licence agreement rather than a tenancy. You are also paying for the convenience

I wouldn't even pay that if it was next to harrods. It's not even nice!

By its area and property type, I'd imagine it was originally aimed at rich international students and has been repurposed by someone since the international student downturn. There are a lot of absurdly priced tiny flats in the city centre and clifton/cotham/redland. All were designed for rich international students or repurposed to corporate short term serviced.

The whole of that area is either grotty as hell (as residential property), or fancied up, over priced short term or students. Very, very few 'general' people live there.

HikingBoots · 09/09/2022 07:50

Even as a serviced apartment, I'd say it should be on for £1500 a month, so the 'serviced' bit is accounting for £3000 a month. That had better cover a hell of a lot of washing at that price!

This one in London is the same price and the difference is huge.

The London one doesn’t include bills in the price though.
