To want a travel mug that doesn’t make tea taste awful?

For work I have to have a covered travel mug. Coffee tastes fine in the one I have ( Chilly’s) but tea tastes absolute vile. Why is this? Why can’t it just taste decent??

Anyone got a good recommendation so I can have a very much needed brew throughout the day?

Agree with pp you need a ceramic one with a lid. There's loads on amazon. I've got one of these (actually it's a bit big but you get the idea)

This might sound daft, but if I make mine in a mug, then tip it into the flask, it tastes better...

Agreed. It's the only way.

Not cheap, but my dh swears by his Yeti mug.

I have a Simple Modern one that's brilliant. (I actually have three, all in different sizes!) Tea tastes like tea.

Mine is fine in a chilly cup but that cup is only used for tea. I also often use a plastic one from waitrose (the ones they sell at the customer desk) and that's great for car journeys in the cup holder or on my desk at work but it's not spill proof.

I use a chilly bottle as a flask if I need to keep it hot longer. I make it in a measuring jug then pour it in so the strength is right and I pour it into a mug for drinking.

I suspect your tea tastes vile because you’ve had coffee in it previously. Coffee is so strong it taints the taste of anything in the mug afterwards.
We do a lot of camping and each have our own travel mugs. I do not allow anyone to have a coffee in my mug. DH usually has coffee in his mug and has bought a new cup to have tea in when camping, as tea is vile in his mug (same make as mine, but is used for coffee).
TLDR: get a second travel mug for tea only!

Agree you need two - you can't do coffee and tea in same one!

I've found my people! I thought I was the only one who noticed. I don't drink coffee so in my case it can't be this that makes it taste bad.

I tried a thermos thermo cafe yesterday and it was good, but I do wash it by hand and had made the tea in a ceramic mug and decanted it so that might bias things.
