Anyone else noticed people writing this as a comment on their or someone else's child's fb post.

"Just be you babe, nobody else can." etc.

WIBU to comment "And be kind and do as you're told"... (ex teacher here 😂)

Just to add, I'm not actually going to comment, just AIBU to want to!

Not seen that comment but I don't think it's bad advice, we all know how hard senior school can be and the pressure to fit in and crush down your individuality.

Hopefully that doesn't come at the price of being an untamed pain in the arse for teachers!

Really? Moving to senior school is a big deal for some kids, losing old friends, making new friends. It’s daunting, they may appreciate a confidence boost, no matter what others think of the posts.

I doubt they want to hear their mums pals lecturing them to do as they are told 😂

Sunnyqueen · 06/09/2022 10:25

It's nothing to do with behaviour in class, it's about confidence to make friends and deal with any possible bullying 🙄🙄

JenniferBarkley · 06/09/2022 10:29

I would assume that anyone commenting that knew that the DC in question had some SEN or was worried about making friends etc.

Well I always did as the teacher asked and was kind. But as a result I was hated by most other kids and school was an ordeal.

School is about more than pleasing your teacher and inspiring kids to be confident in who they are is a perfectly good message imo. If the child in the picture is a complete terror than perhaps I would agree but as a general rule it's just a parent loving their child for who they are and hoping that they will have the strength to love themselves in what can be a very difficult few years of their life.

What's wrong with it?

As to be kind and do as you are told? Just no.
