To notice lightening coinciding with Liz Truss might be an omen like when…

In 2019 and it was similar After Boris Johnson Was Voted Prime Minister, the U.K. Was Hit by 45,000 Lightning Strikes—and Brits Made a Connection

“But some Brits made the tongue-in-cheek suggestion that the weather was a supernatural, almost Biblical, reaction to Johnson becoming the new prime minister.“

“Twitter user DrJFTFernandes wrote: "Boris hasn't even been PM 24 hours and the apocalypse has already started #Thunderstorm"”

“"Boris Johnson has been PM for less than 24 hours and the world's already ending. #thunderstorm," wrote JadelynRosey.“

We laughed at the jokes in 2019… Then the weirdness that was 2020 actually happened... ending the world as we knew it.

So, lightening coinciding with Liz Truss becoming Prime Minister has felt a bit like deja vu and didn’t inspire confidence… anyone else notice and make the connection?

Liz Truss: Westminster braces for thunderstorms as weather threatens to derail her first speech as new PM

Lightning forecast at Balmoral as Liz Truss meets Queen (Side note…Truss was once openly a Republican, but is now a Monarchist. So that meeting should be interesting!).

Or perhaps its goodbye to Boris?

Dd said this last night 😀

I think you may be on to someone 😉

I do think we lose our intuition… as we get schooled out of innate curiosity and imagination. Then get scolded for thinking outside the box to the point that adults fear using or saying anything intuitive.

And hello to his friend Liz Truss?

I was born during a thunderstorm. Wtf does that say about me?

Quartz2208 · 06/09/2022 12:10

You have to be careful though to mistake intuition for making connections that arent there.

For me lightning is a beautiful positive thing in nature that signifies the clearing of the air - it actually helps clear pollution you now and it

Sometimes a storm can be an incredibly cleansing thing

You are trying to create a narrative that Lightning is always negative to fit what you think. There is just as much to fit that it could be a positive symbol as a negative one

or sometimes a storm is just a storm

Omen just mean a prophetic significance. Positive or negative is subjective

I don’t necessarily think I’m building a negative narrative around the thunderstorm lightning… loss of ignorance and illumination is also associated with the thunderstorm lightning symbolism and I generally think that’s a positive (albeit painful).

But sure, biases should be factored in to in any meaning making narrative. My bias is influenced by the observation that the thunderstorm lightning is like the last time a new leader was selected in 2019 with Boris. I remembered funny comments being made at the time about it being an omen. No one could actually have imagined what was to come in 2020….

The new PM makes her first speech outside Downing Street as a torrential downpour of rain begins with thunder and lightning… Yup. In times gone by this would have been taken as an omen.

Did she ride in on a horse? If yes, it could be time to worry.

Not that I know of… but I read her flight was circling over Aberdeen for a while because of fog.

I think your opinions might carry more weight if you could spell lightning ⚡️ correctly.

I’m aware there’s a superfluous ‘e’. Does the spelling really matter when the intended meaning is clear?

Weirdly, that misspelling was autocorrect… I submitted before I could correct manually.
Sometimes I catch the autocorrect error but not always.

Btw. Just looked over my posts on this thread… looks like the only misspelling of lightning is in the thread title (as explained, that was an autocorrect error that shouldn’t matter too much because the intended meaning is clear).

I can spell lightning ⚡️ correctly… but thank you for noticing the error in the thread title (I was going to apologise but wasn’t sure if anyone was going to care enough to point it out!).

Before we knew what a lot of things were they were omens.

But actually in many ways if you take the fog and then the lightning together (and I am not by the way) the omens would actually be I think positive.

The fog lifted to let her land - symbolising the clearing and then the storm again was cleansing.

So omen wise I think it would have been seen as a good thing in the past.

Which is clearly rubbish because it is clearly not

IdiotCreatures · 06/09/2022 19:04

So how many strikes did the UK receive last night?
Did it outdo the 40,000 odd put on show for the Johnson?

36,000 according to a report yesterday. amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/sep/05/uk-weather-more-thunderstorms-expected-after-36000-lightning-strikes

But there have been more lightning strikes since then.

So, not sure about the total yet.

We need some good luck… hopefully it is a positive sign.

Assuming omens are a thing.

It is estimated between 44 to 100 lightning strikes every sec - that is a lot of omens!

To update.

Since this OP, the Queen tragically died and Truss isn’t having an easy time as leader.

Lightning omen indeed!
