Clothes never dry properly on a clothes horse

I've tried using clothes horses in the past including this week and the clothes just never dry! I will put them on in the morning and the next evening they're still not dry, especially jeans and jumpers. We don't have a tumble dryer so I always have to resort to heating. Anyone else find this?

I have a well insulated home with floor to ceiling triple glazed windows. It only takes a day to dry one the wettest of winter days.

That sounds great (and will probably serve you well this winter when central heating is expensive to run). Do you live in the UK? My house was built in 1850 (and has some fairly serious rules on changes we are allowed to make) so realistically triple glazing and full insulation isn’t going to happen.

An extra spin and a dehumidifier. Clothes generally dry by the next morning. Spreading them out properly too of course. But the dehumidifier works wonders and costs very little in electricity.

Could you put the airer on a couple of chair so it's raised off the ground? There will be more air circulation so will dry a bit quicker.

I use a cheap clothes rail like the ones commonly used down bootsales for tops and jumpers, hang them on with a hanger, hang straight in the wardrobe when dry. Trousers I use an airer but hang it over 2 bars instead if 1 so its not folded in half.

For thick things pop them on a hanger and hang them from a curtain rail.

Jeans take ages in a cold or humid house on a normal airer but if you hang them so they aren't doubled up the dry quicker.

Ideally start off with them inside out (you should wash them inside out) then turn them the right way.

@JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon
I've been giggling at your username since yesterday.
Just seeing an imagine of tiny little Don Corleone behind his normal sized desk, sitting on 6 books to see over, looking at Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus on the other side of table who were asking for protection from Herod, and with the the miniature squeeky voice (like chipmunks) saying "Now you come to me and You Say, 'Don Corleone, Give Me protection.' But You Don't Ask With Respect, You Don't Offer Friendship" 😂
