To wonder what the hell happened to me (medical related)

This morning I got up, normal time about 6am.

Had breakfast (bowl of cereal with milk- normal) about 6.20 on the sofa watching the news. Got up about ten minutes later and had the worst stomach pain I have ever had aside from being in Labour. By the time I got to the kitchen I couldn't stand up straight and the pain felt like it was shooting up my bum into my stomach.

Climbed the stairs on my knees and vision was blurry because pain was a 10/10. Sat on the loo expecting a stomach upset but nothing- just more pain. At this point I'm dripping wet in a cold sweat and considering calling an ambulance. After about 20 minutes and some paracetamol the pain has subsided although it still feels 'tight'- probably a 4/10 pain wise and more in my bum. My stomach is hard and bloated.

Honestly, it's the worst pain I've ever been in (and I've given birth twice with nothing but paracetamol- I'm no wimp!). AIBU to ask what it could be?

As the gallbladder is about 30 cm further away from the anus, that's unlikely. Could it have been ovulating pain? The anal muscles can go into an incredibly painful spasm but it's usually when you have a bowel movement. Twisted Fallopian tube? Twisted bowel (unlikely in an adult). Ruptured ovarian cyst? Haemorrhoids, but you'd know about that and again related to a bowel movement.

Kidney stones pain is excruciating too, but it high in the abdomen and most particularly in the upper back. Hideous though.

I get this exactly when I eat a food I’m intolerant to. Worth maybe checking this, even just to rule it out.

I think it's lactose that set off bowel spasms

Anxietyriddenx · 04/09/2022 09:18

I don’t think it’s IBS / bowel spasms. They’re not 10/10 pain. Probably 4/10

I used to get something similar and eventually was told by the doctor it was bowel spasms - it happened occasionally for a couple of years and then never again! Insanely painful, would have me sweating on the floor in the middle of the night, exactly as you described, like I was in for a terrible stomach bug.

Hope it’s a one off for you!

It does sound like it could be this. I had it so bad once I fainted from it. Best to get it checked out though if it doesn’t go away or happens again.

I've had IBS pain that's felt worse than labour pain, particularly when it's a bad attack. I also sweat and sweat then cool off a bit once I've emptied my bowels. The pain takes hours to go off though.

Rectal stabbing - Proctalgia?
Endometriosis or Rectovaginal Endometriosis?
IBS?

Jessbow · 04/09/2022 09:34

I remember having a similar pain, it was on and off and made me rock forward onto my tip toes when it happened, just like someone showing a knitting needle up your bum

it was a symptom of an ectopic pregnancy

@prepared101 sorry, my reply sounded harsh, it wasn't meant that way.
