Having a vent and looking for input about energy consumption.
We have a integrated fridge freezer plus a small counter top freezer that I use for storing batch cooking and ready made stuff my dh insists on buying from Costco.
He decided a week or so ago that we should clear out the counter top freezer and switch it off to save energy. I objected a bit but gave him the benefit of the doubt that our counter top freezer was guzzling energy. I carefully arranged it in integrated freezer so as not to overload it and planned meals to use up the rest.
Fast forward to last night. He bought frozen pizza and frozen ramen noodles and wanted to know where to put them.
He reorganised the freezer and crammed them in. It’s temperamental so you have to be careful with it. (I have been reminded about this multiple times.)
Last night freezer was making a funny noise.
I went to bed. The noise of the freezer is very audible in my bedroom. Last night it kept me awake. I had headphones on and I could still hear it. Woke up grumpy after a disturbed crap sleep.
This morning he agreed there was something wrong with it and the freezer had been overloaded.
Countertop freezer is switched back on and an old fridge has been brought into use until we figure out if troubleshooting will sort it.
Food was all ok apart from a pizza and some bagels that were a bit soft.
AIBU to insist the countertop freezer is left on when we get the fridge freezer sorted? Do they really use that much energy?
