Hi, I posted on another thread but posting here for traffic.

Has anyone had experience of using Delmosart 18mg medication to treat ADHD as an adult?

What was/is your experience.

I have mine here but nervous to start it.

Thank you

Hi OP,

Is Delmostart a name for ritalin? I'm about to start ritalin in the next few weeks Smile

Good luck!

MochaShots · 06/09/2022 22:41

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, I think it's the same. I've started mine. No side effects so far. Its early days, but I definitely feel a little different, in a positive way. Still on a low dose as I gradually adjust, but so far so good.

Let me know how you get on. Good luck :-)

Is it the same as Xaggitin? I wasn’t keen!

I think it's all the same as in methylphenidate.

How did it make you feel? What was your dosage and for how long?

Yes, I actually started taking it today as there is a Xaggitin shortage. Absolutely no side effects re anxiety unlike Xaggitin, brain has been much quieter and more focused. I'm on 36mg however. Are you currently titrating? :)

That's good to hear! Yes I'm titrating. I'm also on 36mg as of yesterday. I usually suffer with low blood pressure, so its been nice to feel the blood pumping around my body :-D but definitely no negative side effects. Let's hope this really works for us :-)

Hi can I ask a question regarding your medication? I have posted on another thread but no answers. Thanks

Guardsman18 · 15/09/2022 10:26

More a question of how you got where you are really. Am trying to help my son.

@MochaShots (hope that's ok!)

Hankunamatata · 15/09/2022 10:55

My teen takes 72mg. Couldnt function without it. He is so much calmer. He says his brain isnt zinging. Only downside it appetite suppression so he manages his diet quite carefully with high calorie nutritious breakfast and dinner plus supper.

Hankunamatata · 15/09/2022 10:56

And stomach aches some days. He does find it vital to drink lots of liquid for best effects such as water or dilute juice

YouHaveAnArse · 15/09/2022 12:02

I'm taking this now. You might feel off for a couple of days, but that's the case for any new medication. Make sure you drink lots of water. I find that I'm absolutely ravenous before I take it in the morning - maybe because it's left my system overnight - so find having nutrient-dense snacks around helps if I'm still hungry after breakfast and before it kicks in. Weirdly, I've gone up to 56mg and I seem to be hungry all the time at the moment, though, so maybe that's just me. I haven't had the total loss of appetite that some people seem to have, but I do find that I don't want to snack as much during the day and that when I do I have more control over my intake.

I'm due to fly long-haul at the end of the month so a bit nervous about how jet lag works!

YouHaveAnArse · 15/09/2022 12:02

Also, speak to your employer if they are sympathetic - you might end up needing to take a day or two off sick at the start.

squashandrun · 23/09/2022 12:32

Hi OP - how are you getting on with Delmosart? :)

@MochaShots (hope that's ok!)

Hi :-) I suffered with depression and anxiety and was medicated for that a few years back. I noticed that whilst my mood improved, my productivity hadn't, and on reflection - was never something I was good at anyway. I started reading up on it, and everything pointed me to the possibility of ADHD.

I contacted my GP, who said I could self refer to Psychiatry UK. The whole process took a few months and lots of form filling and online video calls. Eventually after my diagnosis, I was prescribed medication, and I am still in the titration stage in which I am upping my dose weekly.

I am now on the max dose (72mg) and I can honestly say it's been life changing. I still have days where I'm not as efficient as I could be, but most days are really good.

The side effects were minimal. I've lost weight due to lack of appetite, but I just make sure I eat a good breakfast before I take them. I eat late usually anyway, so by the time they wear off, I'm hungry enough to eat, but not to the point of overeating.

If anything I am so much more healthier as I have had to cut out alcohol (you cant mix) and caffeine.

I do hope your son gets on ok. I'm currently in the process of getting my son the same help.

Best of luck
