Sat in the study getting some work done kids are in the pool and have been for about an hour I can hear chatting and splashing but theres a whacking great row of apple trees blocking the view so can only occasionally glance an arm or mop of hair.
anyway all of a sudden DS appears dripping wet on the landing still in his shorts but carrying his clothes and shoes and proceeds to go into his room to dress and the tv goes on. DD can be heard calling his name aggressively and ranting incoherent babble which definitely had some swear words ! Apparently , DS has deliberately stolen her shoes and she’s had to to walk across the lawn and brown mouldy apples in barefoot and she’s extremely miffed with him.
DS is a very young 5 year old and looked rather terrified by the approaching whirlwind of violence and I stepped in at this point.
I quickly point out that the trainers in question are identical to his own ones! I kit everyone out with trainers each Xmas to pad out the gift pile and these particular black and white ones they both got a pair of just two sizes different. So In my opinion it’s an honest mistake that he’s grabbed them as they look like his. I then laughed at the silliness of it all. DD said I was ganging up with DS and has noisily stomped out the front door in a huff. DS is now crying because he’s upset his big sister and he doesn’t know where she is. I promise you we are normal sane people most of the time. I think I need a gin .
