To not want to see her name anywhere?

There's someone in my life , an ex colleage, who made me very angry. She has an unusual name and we are now no contact. I was reading a post on twitter which really resonated with me but this lady had the same name as this ex colleague so I told DH I didn't want to retweet it because everytime I saw it on my timeline, it reminds me of her.
Anyone else not able to face seeing a name because of their past experiences? I appreciate that could be difficult if the person has a very common name 😁

YANBU. There are plenty of nice boys' names that I would never be able to use because I associate them with arseholes from school.

Stepfather's name has been very popular for years. He was a workshy alcoholic paedophile so ruined our childhoods, but because the name was so frequently encountered the "nasty moment" feeling I had when I heard it has faded away. I associate more now with the nice kids I know and not him.

Glad now that it was so common and not a rarity as it would still have the power to shock I suppose. Although I tend not to think about the horrible man, I haven't even looked to see if he's died alone and undiscovered for years because I just don't care.

Op you might find repeated exposure has the same effect on you so your ex-colleague's name loses its shock factor. Hopefully, as it's a calmer place to be for you.

Yea I totally understand.

I had two "friends" with the same name and star sign (Gemini, I'm not against geminis I'm just saying) and they both screwed me over big time.
One I was friends with for 16 years and the other 10 years.
The name is VERY common so I get a little pissed or judgmental when I hear that name now. Depending on the time of month it might even bring a tear to my eye thinking about it

You have my sympathy OP
