Family at the beach

Yesterday I took my 2 year old granddaughter to the beach. DH drew baby shark characters in the sand for her and she was so proud of them collecting stones for their teeth etc and she was so excited.

It was not a crowded beach, tons of space and we were in a corner away from everyone else.

Then, a woman turned up ragging a beach trolley behind her went right over one of the sharks. Then a bloke turned up walked right over one of the other sharks knocking all the stones out of place. Before long there were a group of adults literally setting up all their shit on top of DGD’s sharks.

We didn’t say anything of course, it’s a public beach, people can go where they want but AIBU to have been silently irritated and think it was a bit mean to do this?? There were so many other places they could have gone.

YANBU, they were clearly twats because they had a beach trolley, was it to carry their Dryrobes and beach tent?

Why are they twats for having a beach trolley? I wouldn’t be able to manage taking disabled family members to the beach without one.

I think some people just stomp through life with little awareness of others in general. Yes they were in the wrong here

I can't believe no one has said it yet...

Ok...I'll bite....

"I think you're going to need a bigger beach" 😆 (as the drawings were of sharks and I hope you get the reference there)

Loving your work, @LookItsMeAgain Grin

Hard to know without knowing the layout of the beach, but it sounds to me that if people were walking over the sharks, they may have been drawn in an area that is often used as a walkway between the car park and the rest of the beach.

And others may have been keen to sit in that area for a variety of reasons: because it was not far from the car park and they weren't able to walk far, or because it was close to the loos/café/ice cream stall, or because it was a long way from any facilities, or because it was out of the wind, or because they knew wouldn't have to move again when the tide came in, or simply because that was where they always sat.

Thanks everyone.

The sharks were right next to us and these people decided to set up camp right next to us on a beach which had absolutely tons of space.

We had set up in a quiet far corner specifically to avoid people walking past us (DGD is suspected as possibly being autistic and likes her space).

if we’d done them in the middle of the beach or near the entrance path I could understand it but we were right out of the way of everyone and as they were walking up I would imagine they must have seen DGD arranging her stones on it.

Still, nevermind. I’m going to get her some sand moulds for next time so she can make more masterpieces 😂

We were just leaving the beach and my 2 son's very detailed sand castles when 2 boys came along and kicked them down. My sons were 😨, but didn't make any fuss. The next time they built a sandcastle round a large rock, and were delighted at the thought of someone coming to kick it down, and breaking their foot!
