AIBU to cry about my big forehead

I absolutely hate my forehead and am upset about it everyday. It’s big and makes my face look really ugly and long.

my hairline recedes quite far back and i have a widows peak in the middle. My hair is very wispy and light coloured too which makes more forehead seem even bigger

i know it’s possible to get surgery to reduce the size of it and I’m at the stage of considering it but I’m so wary and it’s so expensive. Same with hair transplants.

I absolutely hate my face and with a different forehead I would be so much happier😥

You could look into hair toppers OP. You can have them with or without fringes, and they can be either clip in or integrated and attached like extensions for several weeks before they need readjusting in a salon. There are lots of specialist salons who specialise in hair loss and replacement, but they could definitely help you disguise your high hairline

That level of distress and preoccupation indicates you might have body dysmorphic disorder. CBT is really helpful for this - can you ask your GP for a referral/contact your local IAPT service?

Surgery has complications and risks that need to be considered ..

If the fringe extension doesn't work, why not try a wig?

How old are you OP?

I have a massive forehead and spent fifty years hiding behind a fringe. I have a daughter who looks scarily like me and has never given a flying fuck about the size of hers. She has never had a fringe or even mentioned it as a perceived fault and looks beautiful. It suddenly hit me, what was I saying to my gorgeous daughter about herself when I was constantly fixated on our shared feature as a fault? So I gradually moved to a side fringe, then curtain bangs and finally I have grown it out completely. No one has pointed me in the street and I can’t believe I wasted so many years feeling so bad about it. There are plenty of celebrities with huge foreheads who look great, embrace it and don’t waste your best years hiding!

I’ve just googled ‘big forehead’ op and it came up with lots of photos of beautiful women that had very big foreheads. The thing is op, if I hadn’t specifically googled it I would never have noticed their foreheads, I would just have seen beautiful women (nearly all of whom had split fringes and looked fabulous) so I really really doubt anyone else looks at you and notices it at all!
